There are several movies with this name, and the one I watched was just released this year. It is about some so-called social elites in the United States who gathered on the Internet to chat, chat and chat, on a whim, planning a hunting and massacre. Unexpectedly, the wise men must have lost everything, and they did not think of the final outcome. I, the audience, thought of it. However, it doesn't seem to matter whether the spoiler is spoiled or not. My impression is inevitably involved in the plot.
I have two thoughts after watching the film. One is whether it is a real phenomenon in society, simply from the plot of the film? Second, what are the motivations of the director? How to reflect your own ideas through the plot.
Look at the plot first. As the saying goes, full of warmth and lust. In fact, when you are full and bored all day long, you think more than lust. The scenes in the film, we can all see similar phenomena in reality, a group of rich second generations (and there are also rich generations) with the support of money, the creativity exploded. First play the game, play "PUBG Mobile", and then come to "League of Legends", its professional attainments are naturally much better than those amateur programmers, invincible in the world, which also gave rise to the idea of transitioning from virtual to reality. Then there is car playing. Harley and Lamborghini are already outdated, and Bugatti Veyron is the right way. Then I asked Li Tianyi how to remove the muffler and install an aero engine, so that he would smoke from his buttocks in order not to cause trouble for the police uncle. It is now considering the development of a private jet. Apart from a captain and a young stewardess who knows at any time, the plane must be equipped with Ostra caviar and white snow champagne from the czarist era. The next step is playability. The big bed that can sleep sixty people fully embodies the craftsmanship and sets a Guinness record. When all the above is tired, it's time to kill. This is a more exciting game. But they are not playing for their own lives, nor are they planning to enter the role, they just watch the innocent people die from aloft. In fact, it is not the patent of these people to die. There was a legend that a group of rich Russians hunted and killed prisoners deliberately released in the forests of Siberia early on. The difference is that in order to show hypocritical "fairness", each prey is given a weapon. Compete with each other with the flavor of "Battle Royale". In fact, this game was unfair from the beginning. These prey are already in a very unfavorable position. They are placed in open fields and small forests, hiding in the reinforced concrete bunker, and letting bullets and arrows fire. After these 11 people woke up after being fed with sesame soup, they had no idea how to fire the gun. Then there is the bamboo stick array learned from Vietnam, the throat seal from the Indians, and the grenades in the crotch learned from Hengdian. In turn, the head was blown, half of the body was blown off, and then the whole person was left with a pool of blood. The scene is a lot of killing and anti-killing. The strange thing is that in our opinion, it is visually bloody and violent, but psychologically there is no sense of horror.
These elites naturally have their own way of thinking. Athena said: "After all, this country belongs to an elite like me, and it also belongs to people who are uneducated and ignorant. Your failure makes us pay." The first half of this sentence is good. But the second half of the sentence shows the ignorance of their group. In fact, all the wealth of this society is created by the "inferior people" in the eyes of the elites. What Marx said is not wrong. It is the surplus value squeezed from the "inferior people" that the rich get rich and enjoy themselves. Without these people at the bottom, this society and the wealth they create would simply not exist. From the people I have contacted, the IQ and EQ of the people at the bottom are no worse than the elites. It is only due to the lack of education and poor life that they have lost their opportunities and suffered failures. The difference between the elite and the "inferior" is caused by society, and society certainly has the responsibility to resolve it. The best solution is to eliminate poverty. But the Athena are different. Their so-called ideal is to physically eliminate the entire impoverished population.
Many people in this world have a hatred of the rich. It goes without saying that there are also many people who have a hatred of the poor. The Athena have always spoken against racial discrimination, but when it comes to looking at the fundamental issue of today's society, that is, how to treat the inequality between the rich and the poor, their ideas are absurd. Full of contempt for "inferior people", this is actually a kind of expanded racial discrimination. They call themselves elites, aristocrats, and superiors, but they don't have the self-respect, self-discipline and self-examination spirit of the early European aristocrats. There is even a lack of awareness of equality, freedom and democracy. Absurd ideas lead to absurd behavior. They angered all the unsatisfactory things in their lives against these "inferior people". They did not regard these people as "people" with real brains and thinking like themselves. With slightly different concepts, they can be treated like they are. Kill the prey at will.
In the film, Crystal and Athena had a conversation at the last moment.
Crystal: "Why call me Snowball?"
Athena: "This is a metaphor. In Orwell's Animal Farm, the snowball is a pig."
Crystal: "I know, but why am I that pig? Snowball is an idealist. It wants to make the world a better place. Therefore, other pigs spread rumors and turn it into an enemy. I think You are a snowball."
Maybe what Cristal said is good. However, there are two problems. To make the world a better place is not only Athena's ideal, but also the wish of most people in the world. Athena was wrong from the beginning to achieve this ideal. In addition, in "Animal Farm", the pigs drove away the farmer, and later drove away the snowball in an attempt to build a beautiful farm, which turned out to be worse than before. Then we assume that if the snowball finally drives away the pigs, will the world be really beautiful? Judging from what Athena is doing now, who can guarantee that Snowball is not a devil after taking the stage?
Let's look at the motivation of the director. I don’t know since when, movies like "Kill Bill" and "Battle Royale" became popular among audiences. The business opportunities in this one have long been seen by the choreographer. From the perspective of commercial films, the choice of plot of this story is obviously very good. I heard that Trump was not satisfied with this movie, so it would be even better. It is tantamount to making a big commercial. But this is not enough. We need to add more information, which is what we usually call metaphors, or "stalks." It's more polished. It can attract the audience to watch it once and want to watch it the second time and the third time, and the box office will naturally skyrocket. I think this is the first thought of the director.
In addition, the ideas in the film may be the real ideas of the director. It seems that the editor highly praises "Animal Farm." Both the positive and negative characters are reading this book. Unfortunately, compared with previous masterpieces, this book has neither beautiful writing nor grand narrative, nor has it aroused people's deep thinking. It only relies on political metaphors to attract readers, which I find quite boring. For this type of book, it is enough to read it once. If you only have this book in your mind, do you think you are too poor and ignorant? And in the film, it seems to imply the struggle between the elite represented by Hillary Clinton and the low-level people represented by Trump, which is even more boring. Not to mention that Trump, the 250 in itself, cannot represent the people at the bottom. It just depends on the changes in power that change the soup without changing the medicine. The United States has not changed anything, and it does not attract people's interest. No matter how many verbal battles there are, what bans on guns, homosexuality, heterosexuality, climate change, or racial discrimination, in the end they will still get the same result by different routes. Looking deeper, the so-called democracy and autocracy are even more old topics. I don't want to say anything here. Use development to speak for itself.
What is intriguing is the story of the tortoise and the hare that Crystal told. The first half is the same as what we heard, very inspirational. In the second half, the taste changed: "The door was suddenly knocked open, and the rabbit came in.... The rabbit will always win." The ending became the law of the jungle that we have long talked about, that is, the strong will always win. But having said that, in this world, both rabbits and tortoises exist, and each has its own way of survival. Don't talk to me about the rewards of heaven, nor the winners, princes, and losers. Social development is always progressing no matter how fast or slow it is. In the human group, whether it is poor or rich, whether it wins or loses, God is watching. As long as we don't always blame others, we will find happiness in our own circle of life. The general trend of the world is gradually moving towards fairness, and neither the Crystals nor the Athena can change it.
The scheduling of the shots and plot in the film is very novel. At the beginning, a large number of shots were given to the beautiful and handsome boys who were kidnapped, but they died in an instant, and Crystal slowly appeared from the back in the middle. The same is true for Athena's debut. She has been following behind her to make people feel that she is a heavyweight mysterious figure, and she inadvertently turns to her front to make people feel that she is just a female CEO who has been ousted from the stage. The flashback in the film a year ago was also arranged very reasonably, inserted at the right node at the right time.
My score: 6.5.
