There are too many comments about "The Shawshank Redemption", and almost everything that should be said has been said thousands of times. For such a hot topic, if you want to express some personal affection, you can't help but pick up people's teeth. In order to avoid such uninspiring things from happening, I no longer mention many words, such as "hope" or "freedom". Of course, these are very good, and they can be felt from the movie for the first time.
So, let me first talk about another word I have ever felt, "rationality." Andy’s victory is a rational victory, and Andy’s success is a rational success. No matter what the situation is, whether it's good or bad, he stays quiet, silently assesses the situation, and does what he can to achieve his goals.
This is a great talent!
Human beings are emotional animals and are often dominated by emotions. This is human nature. In the face of a cruel environment, people's instinctive response is to fight hard, and when the environment is bad enough to a certain degree, people's fighting spirit will be slowly consumed and become a walking dead. Both of these situations can be seen in many literary film and television works.
Most of Shawshank’s prisoners are like that. Before going to jail, most of them must have been criminals who committed crimes without discipline, and the rebellious and rebellious side of human nature should be much more fierce than ordinary people. But the long-term imprisoned life, the fear of authority, the despair of the future, and the conformity to the system made them gradually become fangs wolves. But the bloody impulse has not disappeared. The prisoners fight from time to time, and the bullying of the "three sisters" is proof. However, all of this surrendered within Shawshank's stone walls. Just as tamed wolves are confined together in an iron fence, they will fight each other and bite. This is the nature of animals as well as the nature of humans.
The greatness of Andy lies in his transcendence of this kind of nature, tens of thousands of miles above it, overlooking all this with human reason. The warden's coldness, the brutality of prison guards, and the animal desires of the "Three Sisters", of course he resisted from the bottom of his heart. His struggle seemed so weak and feeble, but it was so firm and lasting. He is resisting all this with his wisdom and reason. Sometimes, he seemed to have swallowed his breath, but soon I found out with joy that he never gave in. When the "three sisters" forced him to perform oral sex, his calm narrative made the other party helpless; similarly, when the prison guard vehemently pushed him off the roof, he still said something without changing his face. Come and immediately convinced the other party. It was them who looked grim and vicious, but it was him who was really aggressive.
Old Reid had misunderstood Andy, thinking that he was just an ordinary intellectual, not domineering, not bloody, and a weak person. That's right, Andy doesn't have a flamboyant edge. The savage and rough sides of human nature have been condensed into rationality in his body, which bursts out even greater energy.
I think Reid must be grateful that he lost those two packs of cigarettes.

next thing I want to say is, "Perseverance". This power may have something to do with the aforementioned "rationality".
When people are impulsive, at that moment they will burst out with power that they don't usually have, called explosive power. For sprinters, explosiveness is very important. However, the power of the explosion at that moment is limited, and it will be consumed by something called time. This power comes from human instinct and is unthinking like a rock.
But "Perseverance" is thought through. Time continues to corrode it, and reason continues to reinforce it. This is an arduous tug of war.
Andy could persist in digging stone caves every day for nearly twenty years; he could write one letter a week, and then two letters a week, until the state government responded and funded him to build a library; Five hundred meters of foul and dirty sewer, flee Shawshank. Such perseverance is not only admirable, it is terrible.
I have no perseverance. I will only be consumed by time into a pile of ash, a pile of sand, and Andy is polished into a diamond. He excites me because he has "rationality" and "persistence" that I don't have.
I suppose that from which day Andy started to have the idea of digging a hole to escape. Perhaps it was the moment he engraved the name, he found that the texture of the stone wall was loose, which might make him successful, so he began to struggle. But I think that this idea must have existed before that, it must be this idea of wanting to get out of trouble, and his indomitable spirit, which made him an excellent banker. Then, making him an excellent fugitive. Then, after the movie is over, he will surely become an excellent pioneer.

Reid said, you are not a criminal, maybe, not a good husband. Andy didn't think so, he was heartbroken and thought it was his character that harmed his wife. He loves her very much, but he is not good at expressing. She said he is like a closed book and never knows what he is thinking.
In fact, from the beginning of the movie, I understood why Andy's wife would go out of the wall. Of course, he is outstanding, he is not only talented, but also has a wonderful personality charm. But this is not the basis of love, at least, his wife does not love him because of it.
Some people say that this is a "must-see for men" movie. I think in addition to this movie promoting rationality, hope, and struggle, it is also because of the friendship between men. Andy's charm did not attract his wife, but deeply attracted the prisoner brothers around him, especially Rhett.
Rhett is a big brother-like character, generous, sophisticated, sophisticated and intelligent. He is boundless in prison. If he hadn't helped Andy get many tools in the first place, Andy would not be able to complete the miracle of escape.
Andy understands the impact of "institutionalization" on Reid. They mentioned hope in a conversation, so they led to the two most classic lines of the film: "Hope, is a good thing, maybe even the best in the world. And good things never disappear." "Either rush to live or rush to die." However, how could Reid, who had lived in prison for thirty years, be saved by these two sentences? He might follow Brook's old path.
So Andy arranged something for Rhett, or in other words, forged a dream for him. When Rhett walked out of despair and fear, toward the huge oak tree, toward the blue sea and blue sky, I was completely impressed by Andy. He saved himself with wisdom, and saved his friends with wisdom. To put it nicely, he gave Rhett something called "hope". In layman's terms, he asked Rhett to do something and let him "hurry to live". To do this, it is not enough to have good wishes and deep friendship, but also wisdom and insight into human nature.
Andy's move is very similar to Cheng Lingsu. She also saved Hu Fei's life with her feelings and wisdom. The most important thing is that she gave him a reason to live. You can't blame Hu Fei for not loving her, just as you can't blame Andy's wife for not loving her. Perhaps their wisdom and personality charm can only be appreciated from the standpoint of a friend. Many male readers love Cheng Lingsu, so she should be just introduced as a confidant of the opposite sex.

Andy Dufresne, his wisdom has defeated a system full of loopholes; his reason has defeated barbaric and violent instincts; his will has defeated ruthless time; he has defeated Shawshank’s stone wall; he has defeated himself; he has defeated Everything.
He defeated everything, but lost to Forrest Gump.
