Xueye just watched Dawn Johnson's new film "Fighting for Home" and felt disappointed, not worth the price.
The disappointment may be because I have high expectations for this movie. In general, my evaluation of "Fighting for Home" is too plain.
Every one of us spends nearly two hours to watch a movie must be purposeful , some for refreshing and hilarious, some for reaping moving, some for relaxing and happy, some for sublimation of our spirit, or some All that is to do is just put a movie on TV to pass the time while doing housework, so that I will not be so bored.
And I went to the cinema to watch this "Fighting for Home". After watching it, I didn't know what I got...
As I said above, we decided to watch a movie with a certain purpose, and this purpose is closely related to the attributes and characteristics of the movie itself .
" Fighting for Home " is a comedy/biography/sports film, the main content is to tell the story about the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) sport, so sports films are the core attribute of "Fighting for Home".
Xue Ye doesn't know WWE personally. It can be said that he watched this movie from the perspective of a vegan, so I only talk about movies, not WWE.
1. A sports film without blood and passion
When it comes to sports movies, what do you expect?
The first thing you may think of is passion and passion. It is the kind of human spirit that pursues faster, higher, and stronger, constantly pursues the limit, and never stops.
But after watching the movie "Fighting for Home", it may not give you such a feeling.
why?
Because of the champion of the heroine Paige in "Fighting for Home", it seems to be too easy to win.
How easy is it?
The first is that the result is easy. It does not mean that her opponents in the final battle are not strong enough, but that the time of the decisive battle in the movie is too short, there is no more confrontation, and the win is too sudden. There was neither setback nor shock to win this final. It feels like Paige was because she learned to wrestle since she was a child, and she should have won the championship.
So is Paige the "chosen girl", a wrestling wizard who deserves to win the championship?
Let's take another look at the process of winning the championship.
Paige defeated the former champion AJ in his first show and directly won the championship. This is also the real experience of a real person. There is no way to change this.
So why can Paige qualify for his debut against AJ?
The explanation given in the movie "Fighting for Home" is that the other female wrestlers are all models and cheerleaders. She is the only professional wrestler, so she was chosen.
Well, it may be true in reality, and the movie does not want to go into details, so this setting is adopted.
So only by learning from an early age and rich experience, can Paige win the championship?
No, in "Fighting for Home", Paige first overcomes three major problems:
(1) Paige's physical strength is not as good as that of other female players who were born as models;
(2) When Paige first came on stage, he was too simple to attract audiences like those models;
(3) The heart is not confident enough, and the will is not firm enough.
It seems that the movie "Fighting for Home" has set and overcome three major problems for Paige. The story should be very exciting, right?
not at all!
why?
(1) Because the film does not show Paige's efforts to overcome difficulties, too few shots to strengthen physical strength and willpower, it seems that after Paige has made up his mind, things that could not be done before can suddenly be done;
(2) Paige chose to be himself after blindly imitating others, but the movie did not show why paige who was himself was liked by the audience;
(3) Regarding the change of Paige's determination and will, the film did not show Paige's motives and opportunities for change. From the previous story, we can't feel Paige's strong love for wrestling, or a strong desire to change the status quo of the family through wrestling ("fighting for home"), but her brother is more persistent in wrestling.
So, after watching the whole movie, it gives people the feeling that a girl who has been practicing wrestling since she was 13 years old, but can’t say how passionate and persistent she is, she suddenly changed for no reason. After her own hard work and her family’s Encouraged, it was logical to win the championship. As if she was the "chosen girl", victory came too easy.
Champions shouldn't be so easy to obtain. It has always been the case. The reason why a champion can become a champion is because he has done something that no one else can do. Even if she is a natural wrestler with talent, she will encounter various problems in other areas and overcome many of the difficulties encountered for the first time. Only after working hard to overcome these difficulties can she succeed.
Some people say that even if there are no twists and turns in sports films, there are still other things to watch.
This film did not focus on the difficulties and twists and turns of winning the championship. Maybe it was for a relaxed atmosphere to make it a comedy?
2. A comedy that is not very funny
In my opinion, the whole movie "Fighting for Home" has only two big laughs,
One is the performance of Paige's parents when they dine with their in-laws. People who behave like this are really rare;
The other is the words of Boulder when he cheered Paige sister and brother. However, I haven't gotten this place at first. I just feel that Boulder's performance is too exaggerated and abrupt, and I don't understand it. I didn't understand until later, this may be the way of acting and style in WWE.
So, if you watch "Fighting for Home" while watching a comedy, I guess you will be disappointed.
3. A biopic that is not very inspirational
Biopics are movies adapted from real people and real events in history or reality.
From biopics, we generally hope to gain some knowledge, generate some resonance, and gain some enlightenment. Because the movies show real people and things, it will be more valuable to our lives.
So in general, in a word, when we watch biopics, we hope to be inspirational; and inspirational is also the advantage and characteristic of biopics.
But "Fighting for Home" is not very inspirational as a biopic, for the same reason as I said in point 1.
For Paige in "Fighting for Home", the championship came too easy. This is of little reference value and maneuverability for our ordinary audience, because the paige in the movie may only be born.
According to my analysis above, the "Fighting for Home" movie itself may not have much to watch, but what if it is a fan who goes to the movies at the boulder?
4. A movie about boulder playing soy sauce
Boulder has very few scenes in "Fighting for Home", only a few times appearing in:
(1) Paige's sister and brother won the championship when they watched the giant rock on TV;
(2) Meet Paige sister and brother for the first time, and cheer for them;
(3) Paige informed her of the game before the final, and talked to her family to cheer her up;
(4) After Paige won the championship, he smiled with the coach.
It can be said that the role of Boulder is very important in "Fighting for Home", it is a god-like belief-like existence for Paige. It's just that there are very few scenes in the boulder, and it may take less than 10 minutes to add up. The audience who is looking at the boulder will inevitably be disappointed.
The last time Xue Ye watched a sports movie in a movie theater was "Loss Munich", and I felt passionate at that time. From then on, I am looking forward to watching our "Chinese Women's Volleyball" story on the big screen of the movie theater.
And this "Fighting for Home" basically has all the elements of a sports film in general, but it is too plain and has no bright spots. "Fighting for Home" is not a bad movie. I gave it a score of 6. It is a movie that can be watched, but it is not worth going to the cinema.
So I said, if you plan to go to the cinema to watch "Fighting for Home", you might as well wait half a month to support "Chinese Women's Volleyball"!
If you want to watch similar sports movies in the near future, Xueye recommends you to watch "Wrestling King", "Rocky" series, "Quidi" series, "Tekken" or our domestic kung fu movies.
