Is racial discrimination really far away from us? Not far away, because the root of racial discrimination lies in people's prejudice. What is the prejudice? Prejudice is actually our brain being lazy, summarizing fixed opinions and evaluations of a certain group, and labeling them. In this way, we can make judgments about individuals in the group without thinking about the feelings of hatred for the rich, regional discrimination, the strong are guilty and the weak are justified, etc. We can see such irrational remarks every day. Some people may say that this classification method can reduce our trial and error costs. But prejudice comes from experience, it can help us make quick decisions, so why should we try to minimize prejudice? From one's prejudice against another, to one's prejudice against one group, to the prejudice of one group against another group, its development will show an uncontrollable trend. Because as written in the mob, once a person enters a group, IQ will be severely reduced. In order to gain recognition, individuals are willing to abandon right and wrong and exchange IQ for a sense of belonging that makes people feel safe.
For those fanatical praise and fanatical depreciation, it is easy to produce Nazis. When a group's prejudice against another group turns into a solidified thinking and even a fanatical belief, then there is only one instigator away from the genocide.
This is the horror of human nature. Prejudice can rationalize all unreasonable behaviors, and we are not far away from the Nazis.
I used to think that prejudice stems from narrowness and ignorance, but it has a more terrifying meaning. Prejudice may well mean that we are losing the ability to think objectively. Prejudice is something inherent in human nature. It cannot be completely eliminated, but we can choose to let it go.
Convince your brain not to be lazy, and learn to use your brain to form a habit of deep thinking about the world instead of ears and eyes.
