The film is adapted from Emma Donohue’s original novel of the same name. It tells the story of a girl who was deceived by a neighbor and then imprisoned in a small room for seven years.
"The Room" tells a story about escape.
Xiao Zhengtai's mother was abducted by a man named "Old Nick" and then raped and gave birth to him. Since his birth, he has lived in a small room with his mother Joey. There was only one skylight in that room, and only Old Nick could open the door. They survived on the supplies given by Old Nick. Thanks to her mother's efforts, Xiao Zhengtai grew up safely and happily in this small room. After Xiao Zhengtai's fifth birthday, he and his mother began to plan to escape. Only by pretending to be sick, pretending to be dead, rolling on the carpet, and remembering the steps of parking, shouting, jumping, and asking for help, can she escape her clutches and be free. For the mother, it was an escape from the painful imprisonment that lasted for seven years, and for Jack, it was an adventure in a new world. The mother and child depend on each other, the mother has changed from a little girl to a great mother, and Xiao Zhengtai has also grown into a real good boy.
"No one can be strong alone, it is each of us that makes each other stronger."
"We always have to connect with the society, no one can grow up independently and strong." The
little boy acted really well! The nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay has a strong aura! great!

Room quotes

  • Old Nick: What's that smell?

Ma: Sorry, I burned some cheese. Here. I just wasn't thinking.

Old Nick: Well, thinking is not your strong suit.

  • Ma: [about the mouse] He's on the other side of this wall.

    Jack: What other side?

Ma: Jack, there's two sides to everything.

    Jack: Not on an octagon.

    Ma: Yeah, but...

Jack: [Interrupts] An octagon has eight sides

Ma: But a wall, okay, a wall's like this, see? And we're on the inside and mouse is on the outside.

    Jack: In outer space?

Ma: No, in the world. It's much closer than outer space.

    Jack: I can't see the outside-side.

Ma: Listen, I know that I told you something else before, but you were much younger. I didn't think that you could understand, but now you're so old, you're so smart. I know that you can get this. Where do you think that old Nick gets our food?

    Jack: From TV by magic!
