In view of this, it is a bit vulgar to write this film, but who made this film make me very happy, and it is not clear why in a few words, so I write the following post in particular.
In fact, I have seen too many beautiful words about the heroine Marion Cotillard before, so in fact she did a very good and very hard acting, but on the poster, she looks so much like edith piaf herself, but she doesn’t look much like it in the movie. . As for the narrative that everyone complains about disrupting the chronological order, I don’t think there is anything to blame. The celebrity biopic seems to be particularly popular, and dahan takes into account the mood of the audience, and also includes subtitles to explain the year. Just watch it carefully. Not messy. Some people pointed out that the plot was unclear, and I didn’t think it was necessary. Even if she didn’t know her life, she could still keep up with the narrative of the movie. It’s just that arranging the story in this way did not particularly appeal to me, and the part of the disorder seems to be unnecessary. Even with the music, it seems that it is not so reasonable. This aspect is a little bit awkward, I don't appreciate it.
What made me happiest in this film is obviously photography-Nakata Tetsuo's first really loud work since he arrived in France, it was outstanding.
In particular, I want to mention the scene where edith fantasizes about Marcel (actually crashed) coming to her bedside, a huge shot, 4/5 doors, 4/5 rooms, 7 people, shuttle back and forth, from happiness to Anxious to nervous to shocked to pain, he opened another door alone, but it led to the stage............ Too beautiful and imaginative. This long shot made the movie suddenly appear surreal for 5 minutes. Such an unreal trick made Edith's fantasy really messed up. Relatively, the pain afterwards was even deeper.
The second thing to mention is due to the director Dahan, who directed the MV. Edith’s music hall premiered. After a psychological struggle, he finally stood on the stage. When he opened his mouth, the ambient sound suddenly disappeared, and the theme music played until singing. over. I think the director here too understands the truth that silent is better than sound. We have listened to too many beautiful voices of edith piaf, and it turns out that it is so moving without singing.
If these two levels can be maintained for a longer period of time to the entire film, then this is a rare classic music biographical film.
After watching the film, I suddenly understood why the film’s name had to be changed to la mome when it was released in France (Little Sparrow, another translation seems better, after the little bird song). Only silly Americans would name this movie "Rose" "Life", because everyone knows this song? When I came back and waited for the bus, I found that many people were humming "Ode to Love". A certain BTR even changed the name of msn to "Ode to Love"... Well, it's a musical after all. The tickets are so easy to sell, so I must have come to listen to the songs.
