"Sniper Professional Killer": Patterned characters and plot

In 1995, "The Line of Fire" put Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on the opposite side. In 1997, Richard Gere and Bruce Willis copied it in "The Sniper Professional Killer" After the duel of two old guys, it is the same good guy and bad guy, and it is also two rival scenes, but it is clear that the film "Sniper" is far from the level of "Pirates". Aside from the reasons of acting, the story is more important. And the characters are not very full, which is destined to become a fake copy of the film "Pirate".
The plot of "Sniper Professional Killer" is very simple. Bruce Willis plays a professional killer nicknamed "Jackal". He was commissioned by the Russian mafia boss to kill the first lady of the United States. Because of the mysterious whereabouts of "Jackal" Therefore, the CIA could only recruit Mokun, the gunman of the Irish Republican Army who had been in contact with the jackal, to help deal with the jackal, so the killer and the gunner performed a thrilling duel together.
Although it was a duel in name, there were only two rivalries between Jackal and Mokun. The first was when the two met inadvertently. Since Mokun didn't hold a gun, he jumped into the water in a hurry, so this encounter scene There is almost no element of interpretation, but the plot that the Jackal saw Mokun was not surprised by has developed the story a lot. In other words, the main function of this scene is to continue the story, not to satisfy the audience’s hearts. The kind of rivalry effect in the game. The director's simple handling of this plot inevitably disappoints the audience, which is why the film is far less than "The Wire".
The second match scene is obviously stereotyped. The two protagonists must make a final break, so the subway is emptied, and the jackal holds an innocent woman and confronts Mo Kun. According to the conventional approach, Mo Kun must surpass himself and be able to protect women. This reason is actually the main line in the film. Because although Mokun was a prisoner, he insisted on assisting the CIA in catching the jackal. It had nothing to do with whether he was for the safety of the first lady of the United States. It was because of the jackal that Mokun was arrested. His girlfriend and his child were gone, and the Russian female agent as his new partner was also dead. All of this gave him an impetus to stop the Jackal's actions.
In this way, Mokun’s behavior is actually quite simple. His motivation is only revenge. The character in the film looks much paler. Although he helped the CIA a lot in the process of assisting in solving the case, these The plot is not enough to plump the character, so he becomes very modest. Originally, Mokun’s motive was rather single. What’s more, when the director set this character, his background was also quite questionable. Although a criminal was helping the CIA, he was restrained everywhere. Therefore, the character’s initiative It becomes pale, and the protagonist without initiative will never attract too much attention from others, especially in this kind of commercial film. Therefore, Richard Gere is more like a decoration in this film.
In comparison, the role of jackal is active. But unfortunately, the director took a lot of one-man shows to him, showing how he prepared his weapons and how he got to the destination. In the process of communicating with others, the jackal showed only two characteristics, calm and cold-blooded. This is a conventional killer characteristic, and it does not endow the jackal with other human characteristics. Therefore, although Bruce Willis performs very hard, in fact, he has no charm at all. He is just a flat character.
When the two protagonists of the film appear in a single image and become a decoration in the plot, our requirements for commercial films can only exist in the plot. For this simple story, the so-called plot is nothing more than the accumulation of many plots or details, but in fact, almost all the plots and details of this film are out of touch with the main line.
The main line of the film is to prevent the assassination, but whether it is to find Mokun’s ex-girlfriend or analyze the character of Jackal, there are only three real confrontations in the whole show. The first is the dock, where Mokun dives and the Jackal escapes. There were wolves killing three agents. This confrontation was very problematic. As a sensible killer, he would never kill someone who didn't actually stop him from acting at this time. This was like a deliberate provocation against Mo Kun. Therefore, this scene is obviously arranged deliberately by the director, but this kind of confrontation has no connection with the main line and did not play a role in advancing the plot. The third paragraph is of course the end, which is self-explanatory.
The action to prevent the assassination is only in these three fights. During the rest of the time, almost the CIA and the Jackal are engaged in their own affairs and do not interfere with each other, so the tension in the film is greatly reduced. Similarly, it is difficult for us to see Mo Kun's true understanding of the jackal, the plot of intellectual combat did not appear. Therefore, this film gives people a strong sense of fracture, and this sense of fracture can only be said to be the low level of screenwriters, so what we see is a long film, without interlocking links, and without any peaks. The feeling of the duel, let alone the personality of the characters in the film.
This is a standard modularized film, the character mode, plot mode, and even the character feelings endowed by the details are also modes. Of course, the last part of the film protects the first lady and the duel in the subway is still relatively visible, but it is basically a routine move in American films, and there is no breakthrough.

The Jackal quotes

  • Ghazzi Murad: [as Koslova is trying to arrest him] Fuck you, fuck YOU! You scar- faced CUNT! *FUCK YOU*!

  • Terek Murad: [Sadly] My poor brother, how many militia did you kill?

Vasilov: [Nervously] You have to understand, there were 50 of them. Plus the Americans...

Terek Murad: [Abruptly] Yes, yes, but how many did you *kill*?

    Vasilov: [Quietly] None.

Terek Murad: [Incensed] None? Not even *one*?

Vasilov: [Protesting] Please, Terek. I did what I could.

    [Jumps to his feet]

Terek Murad: [Mockingly] You did what you could? You did what you could. Letting those militia pigs and their American scum kill my brother, without killing even one in return. Okay, that is what *you could do*, and this is what *I* CAN DO!

[Snatches an ancient axe off the wall and smashes it into Vasilov's skull]
