The Stargate is a round arch, and when it is activated, a wormhole is formed between our time and space and another unknown time and space. Behind the star gate is another unknown world tens of thousands of light years away. The insatiable curiosity instinct stirs mankind to explore the world behind the star gate.
The story unfolds from this... The
first time I watched it, it was because it was a science fiction film; I watched it uninterruptedly because it constantly broke through itself, bringing surprises to me from time to time and stimulating my imagination.
The star gate on the earth is an idea. Do you imagine a giant star gate floating in space? It is amazing enough that parasites control the universe. Do you imagine that there is another form of intangible life, and there are several? Self-replicating robots are sci-fi enough. Do you imagine that time dilation can be used to suppress their infinite reproduction? The trap made by time dilation is amazing enough, do you imagine that you can use it to gain time to avoid hits? Encountering a black hole while traveling is scary enough. Have you imagined that you can destroy a planet and create a black hole that can provide energy for a giant star gate?
From the point of view of advanced technology alone, this is undoubtedly a feast. And these technologies are not made out of nothing like myths, with a certain hard science fiction color.
More importantly, science fiction works provide humans with an opportunity to perform on another stage. Our realistic stage is limited by the times. Science fiction films provide an opportunity to transcend this limitation. This allows people to reflect more clearly and deeply on the nature of science, technology, and society.
How should we view the similarities in the myths of the major civilizations? Can technology be developed without restriction? Can the development of science and technology solve all the problems? How to coordinate human nature and technology? What is the ultimate fate of mankind? How should several civilizations get along? These questions are given some ideas in the film. Although they may not be realistic, they can be said to be a reasonable ending, which is enough for advanced thinking.
Some people say that there is pan-Americanism in it, and they probably mean to look at things from the perspective of Americans. Fortunately, this film did not specifically mention the political disputes on the earth, but optimistically, the earth united in the same threat. "The national interest of the United States" has been replaced by the "interests of the earth", although it is represented by the United States. National-centrism has become earth-centrism. This is the nature of human beings.
Back to reality, why can't we make such a film?
