A good "good year"

I just finished reading "A Good Year", while my eyes were hot, I quickly wrote braille.

This is how the story unfolds, a successful British securities firm Max, because of the death of his uncle Henry, returned to his manor in Provence and inherited his estate. Max originally planned to pack and sell his uncle’s house, garden, and a not-so-valuable vineyard. However, Max’s pride in the business field also made his own hands hope that he would disappear forever, so they used a plan to let him He cannot return to England for the time being. God opened his eyes, these days are not boring, Max met a beautiful girl Channel, and fell in love with her unconsciously. That's it, Provence gave Max the most beautiful things in life---the mood to enjoy life, beauties, wine, beautiful scenery, and most importantly, here Max has recovered the meaning of life and returned to the ordinary and sunshine.

The film is better than I thought, simple and natural, not artificial.
A businessman in London's securities industry who is profit-seeking is somewhat conceited, but he has nothing but money in his eyes. This is at the beginning of the film. When he was a young boy, the tricks he played when playing chess with his uncle Henry had already been revealed. And when he knew his uncle Henry had passed away, he was not too sad, just thinking about the land prices and market conditions in Provence. After the plot went on, it was discovered that Max itself was not really a cold-blooded animal, and his trader might be the professional quality forged by the London Stock Exchange.

The plot of the film is actually nothing new. It is about the wonderful feeling of returning to the childhood of people who are exhausted in the city, or the true nature of their own lives. This is now a good medicine for urbanites to need a short-term spiritual comfort. In the end, it is "Peach Blossom Spring." But what makes this film interesting is the meticulousness, exquisiteness and warmth of its details. The lines are also very memorable.

For example, when Max told a vineyard worker that he wanted to chase Channel, the worker said "Recall what proust said:'leave pretty women to men without imagination'." Good match.")

Uncle Henry reminded little MAX what is the most important thing for wine in the wine cellar, and wittyly said "ask me what is the most important thing in comedy." Max honestly asked him "what is the most important thing in comedy?" Henry grinned. Mouth, picked up the wine glass, raised the volume, and replied "timing!" After saying that, MAX understood what he meant and ran away quickly, repeating "Timing...".

Uncle Henry was when Max was a child, Teach him how to succeed. After Max successfully became a successful businessman, the memory of Henry gave Max a spiritual direction as an adult. The end, of course, is that MAX gave up the urban identity of London and lived happily in the sunshine of Provence with the channel.

It must be said that the rational and realistic Americans still confessed that even if Max gave up the securities business, his life would not go bad, because the vineyard left by Uncle Henry is a treasure at all, because it produces products. The wines are not cheap at all.

Very nice movie. I really envy the grape farmers, I envy Duflo, the wine immortalizes their souls.

Look at the scenery, look at the beauties, the plot is actually very old-fashioned. . .

A Good Year quotes

  • Charlie Willis: Well this is a disaster. Mr Froggy Wine Man has just knocked a million off our sale price.

  • Max Skinner: Kenny, why don't you go and find some small animals to hurt? I know, find a poodle and punt it off the balcony.
