Are rick and morty really dead?
In the space they replaced, it was really dead.
There are many parallel universes in the world, and most of the universes (a small part of the universe doesn't) happen in the story that Morty asks rick to be drugged and everyone mutates. When what happened in the universe viewed by the audience is uncontrollable, their plan b is to search the remaining universe to see if there are any in the universe that they controlled the disease and accidentally killed themselves. Then, fortunately, they found it, so they replaced that universe and continued to live.
This can also explain why they will appear in an alien state later, that is, they are in other parallel universes.
