Compare "Poseidon"

Before I saw "Poseidon", I heard a lot of news about "Poseidon". The word that appears equally frequently is "Titany". Perhaps everyone unconsciously compares the two in their minds. They are both disaster films, both taking place in the Atlantic Ocean, and the same location is a luxury cruise ship. In terms of time, "Titani" is three hours, while "Poseidon" is only a short one and a half hours. In terms of plot narration, you can imagine it is quite compact. I have always felt that "Poseidon" cannot surpass "Titani", even though I actually don't like the love story that is the main line. However, the depiction of the characters and the layout of the plot may be relatively thin due to time.

At the beginning of the movie, the camera was driven by the protagonist's running, showing the majestic and majestic picture of the Poseidon. While we were amazed, we have been waiting in our hearts, waiting for the destruction of this thirteen-story luxury cruise ship. The director did not waste too much time. In a happy New Year atmosphere, several protagonists took turns to show their background and relationship through dialogues in different scenes. For viewers who have already known the development of the story, a straightforward arrangement may be more appetizing for us.

After a round of lonely moon, the frustrated professor walked to the deck. When he stepped on the guardrail and prepared to throw himself into the sea, the disaster finally happened. The alarm sounded through the cruise ship, and the huge wave formed a big mouth, which swallowed the Poseidon in an instant. The huge wave is indeed beautifully done, like a waterfall, pouring down, the side effect is very shocking, but at the same time I was thinking, why not add a frontal lens, let the huge wave be overwhelmed by the audience. To experience from a different perspective, isn’t it more oppressive? This will increase tension and fear.

More than ten seconds later, the entire hull of the ship turned over, and the people who had no time to react were separated from life and death in an instant. In front of the powerful natural forces, the wisdom that people have always been proud of was too late to play its role.

Then down, we followed the protagonist all the way to escape. Dylan, who originally wanted to escape alone, had a few more companions in the last resort, and became the leader of this group of people invisibly. This can show that the personal heroism of Westerners is really everywhere. Last night, Pearl TV was showing the 72nd version of Poseidon. The structure and relationship of the two groups of survivors are not the same. Perhaps the director's remake is just based on his creativity, not the original plot like King Kong. The Poseidon version of the 72nd edition also had an initiator, a pastor, but he had been persuading everyone to leave, only to see his lack of persuasive power, and only a few people were willing to follow him. Even among these few people, there is a role of an inspector who always goes against him, always suspicious of him. He had to persuade these people all the way to escape. In the end, when he was about to escape, he sacrificed himself in exchange for the Inspector’s final understanding and a little regret on his face. Or the pastor can only do this, only by sacrificing himself to save the world, so that he can go to heaven.

In the remake of Poseidon, the work of the protagonist Dylan is much simpler. Everyone supports each other, trusts and helps each other along the way. However, there are also times of contradiction. When they crossed the elevator to the other side, the waiter in the restaurant told the old professor to go first. This is really touching. It's a matter of life and death, and they also know how to be humble. These inherent qualities have nothing to do with their origins. But when the waiter in the restaurant was about to fall, Dylan issued an order to kick him down! The old professor kicked it heavier than he did without hesitation. The cruel scene also made me feel ironic. Before the disaster happened, didn't the old professor obviously want to commit suicide? Why do you love yourself so suddenly? People are extremely contradictory!

The two versions of Poseidon have similar escape courses. Going upwards will have vitality only when going upwards. In the new version, everyone was stuffed in their breath, waiting for the little boy to unscrew the screw, I was also secretly nervous, although I knew I would be able to open it. Everyone held their breath and waited, the water below poured in all the way, Dylan was almost submerged, and everyone was waiting nervously. With the snap of the screw unscrewed, I believe the audience present will be more or less relieved. There is also a section where they drown themselves. It is purely a gambling. If they lose, it will be the lives of so many people. It is really thrilling to see. The journey has not been smooth. Someone has to be given up on the way. Only in this way can they set off the hardships of the escape route. Although rushing to escape, the director also arranged some love affair, the father's sacrifice, the single mother and Dylan save the little boy, telling the most inseparable family affection among human beings and enriching the plot. The old version focused on describing love, and the feelings of the old couple who couldn't part with it was what moved me the most. Their conversation: How long have we not told each other that I love you? Who knows, 20 years, or yesterday? What is Xiangru Yumo? Maybe this is the answer.

To compare the two versions of Poseidon, perhaps due to the advanced technology, the new version should be more observable, and relatively speaking, the old version is a bit muddled; but the arrangement of the characters, the old version does not show weakness, it has enough time to come. Tell everyone, and escape all the way, plump them all the way. But in terms of a disaster film, I still think the new version is even better.

Seeing them finally escaped from the Poseidon, thinking that it was finally over, the director didn't think it was exciting enough, and there was one more scene of turning over and sinking the ship, which made us feel nervous again. Finally, everyone can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Dylan fired a flare upwards. In the dark sky at night, how wonderful the moment when the fireworks were in full bloom, what could be better than it? Two helicopters came to their rescue, and two beams of light shone on them. In the dark sea, a small boat floats in it. As long as there is courage, no matter how big the ocean is, it is just a stage, allowing people to continue to show their endless wisdom. Compared with the 1972 version of Poseidon, only arranged to be rescued on the plane during the day, this scene is arranged more ingeniously and more attractively.

It has to be said that although the Poseidon is tense and shocking along the way, this is undeniable, but compared to the Titanic, due to the excessive emphasis on rhythm, it is not as comprehensive as the narrative of the Titanic. Although "Titany" is based on love, it is interspersed with many touching plots. For example, the old couple who embraced and faced death together, the captain who coexisted and died with the crew, and the musicians who still played calmly. Although I have only watched these scenes once, I have always been impressed by these scenes. It is precisely because of these plots that everyone is moved to watch "Titany". In the face of disasters, what should mankind do? The deepened theme raised the height of the film, triggered a round of thinking, and made "Titany" a classic.
