"The King of Lancaster": This historical film is not boring

I like it very much, it should be said that it exceeded expectations. Earlier on, I always thought this film was like many epics, it must be very boring, but not only did I not feel tired after watching it, but I hope to learn more about this period of history. The earlier knowledge of Henry V was only a common online saying that he was a young and promising English king who accomplished a lot of merits, but his reign was very short. After watching this film, I realized that there was such a ridiculous and complicated reason behind this battle to conquer France. I also understand the confused little king on the poster. It is estimated that even he himself hadn't anticipated the direction of this war.

The reason why it is not boring is related to the following points

1) First of all, this film is actually less than 3 hours, only 133 minutes, for historical films, it is simply too rare.

2) The film created several interesting characters and broke the dullness. Among them, the French prince played by Robert Pattinson is indeed the funniest. His frivolity and arrogance are in stark contrast to the maturity of Sweet Cha as the king. The rivalry between the two is also the best. Choosing two young and enthusiastic actors is even more rewarding. In particular, looking for British Pattinson to play the Frenchman, and looking for a sweet tea with French descent to play the British king, this kind of reversal is also very interesting and increases the difficulty of the performance. And both performances are quite satisfactory.

Joel Edgerton also wrote himself an interesting military commander role. He usually looks cynical and doesn't have many lines, but every time he speaks is a golden sentence. Although the role of Sweet Tea is serious, the "not serious" of the people around it balances the style well. Of course, although the king of sweet tea looks dull, there are indeed several opportunities for outbreaks, which is quite surprising. And many shots made him look as beautiful as an oil painting, which really adds to the eye.

3) The mud battle between Britain and France was filmed wonderfully. Generally speaking, I don’t like this kind of dirty hand-to-hand combat, but the shooting of this battle is to show its primitive roughness and clumsiness. There is no exciting fight or battle, but it makes people feel very real. , Also showed the helpless and ridiculous side of this war.

4) The turning point of the final outcome may seem unexpected, but it also subtly demonstrates the darkness and cunning of many political games in history. Moreover, everything after Henry V's succession looked far beyond his own expectations, presenting a feeling of "out of control". In the end, he seemed to be the last person he wanted to be, but he also accepted the facts. The audience saw how a young man who did not love war and had no ambition was forced to become a conqueror and leader step by step. Unconsciously feel sorry for him.

I personally think that the rhythm of this film is well mastered in the same type of work, and there is nothing that makes people feel redundant.
