This drama is actually a second-view, the last time I watched it a few years ago.
At the beginning of the film, the psychologist who saw the relationship between husband and wife woke up at 2:06 am every day, and this time he woke up and found that his wife had committed suicide in the bathtub. What was even more terrible was that his daughter also saw this scene. Since then, the serious psychological trauma left behind, in order to make his daughter out of the trauma, the father decided to take his daughter to live in the country in a different environment during the holiday, so that the child out of the shadows. Since she moved to the country, her daughter who doesn't like to laugh or talk suddenly tells her father that she has made a friend named Charlie. She plays and talks with Charlie every day, sometimes very happy. Father is very worried, because there is no Charlie here except for the father and daughter.
With the development of the plot, weird neighbors, real estate agents who want to say nothing, and even the police slowly appeared around the father and daughter. Who is Charlie?
People who watch this play for the first time will definitely think it is a ghost film under the guidance of the whole rhythm. Charlie is naturally the "ghost" that everyone can't see, only Emily can see. The truth comes to light after seeing 3/4 of the film. The whole person's emotions and thoughts are all going forward step by step under the misleading of the film. Finally, I suddenly realized that it is the excellent part of the film.
Why does Charlie exist?
Father is an excellent psychologist, busy with work and neglect to care for his wife and daughter, so his wife had an affair. In essence, the male protagonist actually loves his wife very much and does not puncture him on the surface, but he loves her very much in his heart and cannot allow her betrayal, so he splits into a second personality: Charlie. A person with a personality completely different from his own: he takes care of his daughter, plays with her, cannot accept his wife's betrayal, and is irritable and possessive.
Why would he kill the divorced woman who was ambiguous with him?
Because when he was Charlie, he only loved his wife, he would think that woman was a nasty third party, destroying the relationship between him and his wife.
And the neighbours who were weird at first, and the real estate agents who hesitated to talk are actually reasonable and findable. They have no problem at all, but when they are in contact with the male protagonist, they occasionally find that he will behave strangely and do some things, so right He paid special attention. It's just that they didn't know that it was those strange actions that his split second personality did at that time.
And when did the second personality of the little girl appear? I think it started when she entered the small cave in that grove. There were all kinds of shattered and unrecognizable dolls floating in that hole, which should be related to her, and she broke a doll in front of her when another little girl was looking for her to play with. And Emily sometimes showed that she liked Charlie, and sometimes she was particularly afraid of Charlie, which were two completely different reactions.
In the above picture, pay attention to the expressions and movements of the little girl and father. They actually pushed the divorced woman down together in a tacit understanding. At that time, Emily had second personality.
And every night the bathroom reminds her father that David is Charlie, and that her mother was killed by her father, which is actually another personality of her.
There are a few more terrifying plots throughout the look:
1. The basement down from the closet. It reminds me of the plot in "The Call of the Souls". Every day, the sleeping child is pushed by the ghost to the same closet door.
2. Destroyed an unrecognizable doll. Reminds me of "Annabel", the picture is too strong.
3. The male neighbor who kept beating on the door and window of David's house in the wind and rain. (It turns out that he was kind and worried that David would hurt Emily because he thought David was dangerous, and Emily always reminded him of his daughter, so he had a strong desire to protect)
I almost watched it as a ghost movie, and finally realized that it was a tragedy caused by mental illness. I have watched dramas with mental patients more than once, and realized a truth, mental illness can really be inherited! This is why Emily splits. On the one hand, it is frightened, but it is also a genetic problem.
Another digression, I really like this country house, quiet, spacious and comfortable, and the living environment is also very warm.
