Lolita-this love can be a remembrance

This film was specifically searched for after I watched the blogger’s introduction in the diary last fall. I didn’t expect to like it so much since then. I watched it twice in a day, and basically I have to take it out every week thereafter. Aftertaste once.

Many people think that Humbert's love is pathological or even abnormal, but I think his love is understandable.

First love is unlimited. For many people, first love is the most unforgettable memory. As Humbert said, "If there is no Anabel in the front, there would be no Lolita in the back." Lolita continues Humbert's dream of love, she has an irresistible witch temperament, like a jungle Yeyan little fairy who came running. So much so that the middle-aged Humbert marries her mother against his will in order to see her, but has been using sleeping pills as a guise to escape the duties that a husband should perform.

The encounter between Humbert and Lolita is destined to be a tragedy. Whether it is from the stepfather's possession of the daughter or pedophilia, such love is not allowed by the morality of the secular, and naturally it will not be blessed. What's more, Lolita is just a 14-year-old girl who pursues excitement and loves beautiful clothes and a comfortable life, and can't afford him the same heavy love.

I like all affectionate and desperate love. The so-called great love story must have huge secular obstacles, like Cheng Dieyi’s infatuation with Duan Xiaolou, like the two cowboys in Brokeback Mountain who love each other but are forced by social morals and ethics. The constraints cannot be together. This kind of love, because it is deeply buried in my heart, is not revealed to the world, so it will not be weathered by reality.

At the end of the film, the blood-stained Humbert staggered to the edge of the cliff, staring blankly at the village in the distance, and laughter of children rang in his ears. Humbert read in his heart: What makes me uncomfortable is not that Lolita is not by my side at this time, but that she is not among the laughing children.

In Humbert's memory, Lolita will always be the coquettish elf, not the pale, chaotic, bloated woman who is standing at the door and watching him go a few years later, with other people's flesh and blood in her belly.

Humbert finally lost Lolita completely. But I believe there is still a trace of comfort in his heart-he has the memories of Lolita's entire youth.

Lolita quotes

  • Humbert Humbert: Don't smudge your toenails!

  • Dr. Zempf: Has anybody instructed Lolita in the facts of life?

    Humbert Humbert: The facts?

Dr. Zempf: The facts of life. You see, Lolita is a sweet, little child, but the onset of maturity seems to be giving her a certain amount of trouble.

Humbert Humbert: I really don't think that this is a fit topic.

Dr. Zempf: Well, Dr. Humbert, to you she is still the little girl that is cradled in the arms. But, to those boys over there at the Beardsley High, she is a lovely girl, you know with the swing, you know, and the jazz, and she has got the curvatures which they take a lot of notice of.
