The formalist cat thinks that at my age, the term "old" sounds a bit hypocritical and clichéd. But I think this is true. It has been nearly 5 years since I left campus. 5 years may not be long, but it is really not short. Five years ago, I was obsessed with the words such as the structure and deconstruction of the existence and the other side of beings and beings. After 5 years, I yawned when I saw such words. The movie is the same. Names like Tarkovsky, Kislovsky and Godard, are far less attractive to me now than Quentin Chow, the Tarantino Coen brothers.
I'm tired of thinking. So before watching Jim Jamush's "Broken Flower", I was somewhat hesitant. I didn't doubt the movie itself, but didn't have confidence in myself.
The movie opens with a long shot. The camera moves with the postman. On the awkward path, the characters are far and near, as if time and space are drawn closer and extended. This obvious "birthmark" of Jamusch style has deepened my worry. However, just when I was almost about to believe that my initial suspicion would become a reality, the film began to move in a typical mainstream fascinating direction.
The postman threw an unsigned pink letter into the home of a single middle-aged man who was watching "Don Juan" and recalling his half-life affair. This man named Tang never thought about marriage and didn't want to be responsible for anyone or anything, but the unsigned pink letter told him that he had a 19-year-old son who had never met. This son is coming now. I'm looking for him. Although life has honed him to a level of calmness, the fall of a son from the sky still made him feel slightly disturbed. So he "gets on the road" and knocked on the doors of his girlfriends 20 years ago...
Such a dull-eyed man, what would his girlfriends 20 years ago be like? What kind of story did he have with them? What will happen when we meet again? This kind of story is undoubtedly much more interesting than those poorly-formed films before Jamusch.
It is a pity that the following story is not lively at all. Tang went to 5 places, and the 5 women were different, some were welcome, some were embarrassed, some were indifferent, and some were angry, and another had returned to the dust, but each woman seemed to have some kind of relationship with him. If there is no contact. Casual narrative, calm humor. We saw the drawer sorting expert and her daughter named Lolita who is also very good at acting style, the blonde woman who runs real estate and his handsome husband, and the mediocrity behind the loving life they deliberately created, pretending to be mysterious. An expert in animal communication and her lonely life, the grumpy woman who lives in isolation, her husband who can get married with one punch, and the potential affair in a flower shop. However, we didn't understand anything. We don't even know whether Tang has a son or whether the letter is just a prank. Only the flowers in the house can prove that everything has indeed happened.
It's hard to tell whether it is true or absurd, only loneliness goes with him. Jiamuxu is still the same Jiamuxu.
