The story unfolds casually and lightly in one ballad after another, which is not fascinating but absolutely interesting. This is a seemingly divorced family, so normal that it can't be normal; but you suddenly find out: something has gone wrong! The neurotic mother was extremely honest but had too many affairs. The arrogant father fell in love with his beautiful students, the older brother plagiarized his works and deceived others, and the younger brother was drinking too much. Everything seems chaotic and hopeless, no one can get rid of the misunderstanding and estrangement. However, it didn't take long for everything to dissipate so slowly, there was no climax and no results, maybe this was life. The barriers that are difficult to dissolve are compromised in the connection of blood thicker than water, and imperfect people are not broken because of this. Everything comes to an abrupt end in front of the giant squid and whales, a deep blue that is condensed.
If the dilemma presented in "Squid and Whale" is the same as "American Beauty", then it has a kind of indifferent indifference that is not complacent due to the abuse of technical skills. Life is rushing to the face, and the microsecond ridicule is like a small tune, leisurely and rich.
Probably this is the best family movie in America since "The Cramers"~
Listening to Pink Floyd's the Wall was something I did in junior high school. Hey You will be full of charm after many years.
If Hey You is the theme song of the film, the good news is that it has found a movie that is completely worthy of it.
