Summary of "Evil Land"

A very good movie. I have always liked movies like this youth escape theme. Naturally, it reminds me of "Rebellion Without a Cause", "We Have No Tomorrow", "Born Murderer", but putting these films together is not Comparable. The reason I like "Bad Land" is that it is not pretentious, non-pretentious, and has no moral judgment. It is very different from some heroic preaching Hollywood films. The film is from Hollywood in the 1970s, so it makes sense that the narrative structure is rigorous and the literary foundation is solid (I want to say that there has never been a decent Hollywood movie after 2000). Although "Earthland" does not have a vulgar moral judgment, it strongly gives the audience a sense of identity. As an audience who likes to be more authentic, I don't like to identify with a certain role; but as a rebellious youth in a conservative era, I like to be identified. In addition, the male protagonist is not very satisfactory to me. It is mentioned many times in the film that he is like James Dean, but in my opinion, he has no taste at all, and his head shape is just alike. If you talk about the demeanor, it can be said that there is a difference of thousands of miles.

Badlands quotes

  • Holly Sargis: [voice over narration] Then sure enough Dad found out I been running around behind his back. He was madder than I ever seen him. His punishment for deceiving him: he went and shot my dog. He made me take extra music lessons everyday after school, and wait there 'till he came to pick me up. He said that if the piano didn't keep me off the streets, maybe the clarinet would.

  • Father: [to Kit] I don't want you hanging anymore. I don't wanna see you again. Understand?
