Those flowers of Don Juan-broken flowers

When I started watching this movie, it was already two o'clock in the morning. I went to bed after watching it, but the weird Ethiopian music in the movie kept me dreaming. So, it is necessary to write something. Start the movie, start the life puzzle of Donny Johnston.

The content of the film is simple and straightforward. An old man, Donny Johnston, has lived in many women in his life, but none of them have been kept. One day, he suddenly received a letter from unknown source. The pink letterhead made him fidget: The woman in the letter told him that when he broke up with her, she was pregnant with his child, and the child is now 19 years old. What made him even more flustered: This is a shy and introverted child, and it is now possible to set out to find him. . . . . . So, with the help of his kind neighbors, Downey set out to find the five women in his life.

Five women, five experiences, five pieces of memory puzzles, five faces with traces of time. . . . . .

Now let’s talk about why I chose the title in this way. When Downey's nearest woman left him, he was watching "Don Juan," and Don Juan was what most people thought of Downey. The characters sought are the women of Downey’s 20 years of life. It was Downey's flowers, but in the end, looking back suddenly, I realized that the once delicate flowers had been broken.

Let me list some key words, because for such a simple storyline, the Chinese director would either finish the filming in half an hour, or make it into a Lunar New Year drama film, and take a few pages of the film to tell the story. Kingly.

Regarding the theme of "searching",

each person’s life has a different theme, and some people are waiting—like the two idle homeless men in Bergert’s "Waiting for Godot", discussing nonsense under a big tree. Pass the boring time of waiting, but don't know who is waiting. Some people are metamorphosis-like "John. "Christopher", in the gambling game where God and the Devil take turns sitting at the bank, constantly changing, from boy to man. It's like Tang Seng, whose mission is to learn from the scriptures and let your female monster and goddess seduce you. More like Downey in "Broken Flower", his theme is "searching."

The search I want to express here has two meanings. The first is Downey's search in the background of the story involved in the movie. The search process is almost absurd, and in the end it was unsuccessful. At this level, Downey has always maintained the state of searching, there is no result, and the result is not important, what is important is the process of searching.

The second meaning is Downey's search outside the context of the movie. Downey is a Don Juan in his twilight years. He didn't keep any woman around him. So he was erratic in his life in a vacuum, so he told himself that what he needed was direction. This is also one of the reasons for this visit.

Downey struggled to find his son and the woman he brought to him during the journey, but he could not find him, but he unexpectedly saw a shy and sensitive young man near his home. Although in the end Downey didn't know if he was his own son. But the director here tells us that sometimes, there are some things, some people you can find but you can't find them. When you look back suddenly, you find that what you are looking for is right at your doorstep.

Regarding the "20" years

, what exactly is 20 years? Twenty years is equivalent to China’s four five-year plans, which is equivalent to two discussions on the Huashan Mountain. Twenty years is equivalent to 7,300 days and 175,200 hours. . . . . . So what can be changed in 20 years? It can change a person from youth to old age—for example, Downey; it can make Downey have a 19-year-old son; it can give Laura a daughter who is as coquettish and beautiful as her, and who is old enough to seduce He; can tell Dora to transform from a punk girl into a real estate agent who runs a mom-and-pop shop, wearing a pearl necklace every day and hiding in a beautiful big house; he can make Keim give up being a lawyer and become an animal that communicates with animals The scientist, the eyes are so weak that there is no emotion; you can call a woman (forgot the name bird) life down and down, but still has not forgotten the resentment towards Downey; what is 20 years equal to? It was Michel, who was once eye-watering, turned from a beautiful girl into a gloomy tombstone.

This is the distance of 20 years, and this is what can be changed in 20 years. Perhaps it can be said that the change of appearance is inevitable, and the change of life state is also inevitable, and the same, the change of life and death is still inevitable.

The camera followed in Downey's footsteps all the way, where it began to become dull and wandering. Downey's always calm expression began to blur and sad. Downey chose a bunch of flowers in the flower shop, and the beautiful girl in the flower shop enthusiastically wrapped it up for him. Downey looked at her, did he see Michelle when he was young? But she is as young and tender as a flower, but what about herself? And Michelle?

Passing through Lin Luo's tombstone, Downey found Michelle's tombstone. He bent down and put down the pink flower, and said softly: hei, beauty. The beauty of that year no longer exists. This is the power of 20 years, from life to death, from hot to cold, from youth to twilight. Downey showed an expression of pain for the first time, and he began to choke.

Time flies, life under the big curtain of time interprets the same theme in different ways. In the context of time, everyone is the same, because we all have to begin the remaining first day of life. The film tells us that time is a great magician, who indifferently devours any edges and corners of life, but our search for life is always lagging behind.

Regarding "pink"

I always think that pink is the color of women, boys may not know, because in the choice of blush, pink is a cool color. The beginning of the story was because a pink letter straddled the ocean and landed at Downey's door. Downey always brought a bunch of pink flowers to visit the old women along the way.

In a few scenes, pink is particularly emphasized, such as the glamorous Laura’s sexy pajamas, such as the flowers on the background of the white wall of Dora’s lavish home, such as the pink that Downey placed in front of Michelle’s tombstone. Colored flowers, and the pink ribbon on the wandering boy’s travel bag. The pink in the indifference and dark background is so dazzling and heart-wrenching.

The pink flowers symbolize the women of Downey. No one was created by time without exception. Downey held the bouquet tightly. I can imagine that when he saw his women, the sweat from his palms soaked the flower branches. Downey had never looked back. When he looked back with flowers, the flowers no longer bloomed. Time steals many good things in our lives, but we can't do anything about it.

I made a lot of assumptions when I watched the movie, assuming that Downey did not give up Laura, Dora, or Michelle. . . . . . . Will the story remain the same? It will be different. Therefore, it is not so much time that changes those flowers, it is better to say that they changed them themselves.

About the film itself and the music

"Broken Flower" is the most successful film by independent director Jim Jamush so far, and it won the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize. This is mainly due to Bill Murray's delicate and moving performance. The four girlfriends appearing in the film are "one is stronger than the other", namely Sharon Stone, Jessica Lange, Julie Deppe and Tilda Swindon.

The soundtrack of the movie made me the most depressed. Black music from Ethiopia followed Downey's search all the way. A little weird percussion is a bit abruptly funny under the sadness and calm humor.

After writing this article, I suddenly wanted to find the first "Those Flowers" to post. How appropriate.

That piece of laughter reminds me of my flowers
in every corner of my life, quietly driving for me,
I thought I would stay by his side forever,
today we are gone, in the vast crowd,
they are all old, right
they Where are
we going to the end of the world like this
... Miss her
... Is she still driving
... Go! They have been blown away and scattered around the end of the world.
Some stories are not finished yet, so forget it.
Those feelings are in the years. has been difficult to distinguish between true and false
and now there is no profusion of flowers and weeds
Fortunately, once you have the spring and autumn and winter
it ...... want her
friends ... she was still open it
it ...... go! they have been blown away in the horizon scattered
them
Are they old ? Where are they?
We just went to the end of the world each. . . . . .
