The second season ended with a gunshot, and it was another year of waiting. After Eve was shot and fell to the ground, how will the plot develop? It's really imaginative.
Waiting for the new season of KE to be broadcasted, I turned up the classic first season and watched it all over again. Apart from Ji Dong, he decided to write some of his own understanding of the plot.
In this film review, regarding the emotional and psychological state of the two protagonists, Eve and Villanelle, I will not do more analysis, because it has been analyzed by various film reviews. I didn't see a few film reviews discussing the plot, so I was a bit disappointed. Is it that everyone is attracted by the two heroines' Ji Qing, the plot is not important? This is obviously a drama that has been labeled as a "story". What's more, the plot of the first season may seem a bit messy at first, but it's actually meticulous and interesting, echoing back and forth, and all kinds of foreshadowing, the script can be called a wonderful one.
Although many people in the film critics feel that the plot is far-fetched and there are too many loopholes. Brother, you didn't watch the second season, that's the truth.
Due to space limitations, the analysis of the plot that took place in Moscow is placed in two other chapters:
Analysis of the Moscow story (Part 1)/Talk about Aunt C and Uncle Kang in the shadow 2/Multi-picture warning
Analysis of the Moscow story (Part 2) / Talk about Aunt C and Uncle Kang in the shadow 3 / Multi-picture warning
Let me sort out the plot of the first season and talk about the two characters behind the protagonist, Aunt C (Carolyn) and Uncle Kang (Konstantin) in the shadow.
Some audiences joked that they were Kang father and C mother, and prevented E and V from getting too entangled with each other like a premature love. Of course, this is the beginning of the second season, and skip it.
Next, I will pick out some points to sort out the plot and characters by asking questions.
A lot of the information in the play is flashed by, or expressed rather obscure, and it is not clear at a glance, sometimes it gives people a feeling of "the plot is very messy". First put on the plot timeline of the first season I compiled . (The following figure)
I'm afraid that you won't be able to see clearly, so put a vertical version.
As can be seen from the above picture, the time span of the first season is very short, only 18 days, and all the stories of the first season took place. And our dedicated pioneer Ms. V killed 16 people in 18 days and traveled almost every day, so she could find time to monitor and flirt with Eve. Look at Eve again. In more than half a month, I lost two jobs, two colleagues, a husband, and a mobile phone. Oh, and stabbed V. Both the characters and the audience are quickly pushed forward by the plot written by the screenwriter. After finishing the timeline, I sighed that the people in the play seem to be able to do so many things for 48 hours a day. (It's easy to cross-country, just a few hours by flying.)
Question 1: Is Carolyn really one of the 12 people? What is the relationship between her and 12 people?
Regarding the identity of Aunt C, until the end of the second season, it seems that there is still no conclusion. Villanelle's sentence: "Eve, when you climb high enough, you will find that we are serving the same people." In the second season, he said to Aunt C: "You are the real boss? Are you not?" Many people guess that C is one of the 12 people.
Although in the original novel, Aunt C is set to be one of 12 people, using eve to test the stability and security of the organization's operation.
But as far as my personal understanding and guessing of the series are concerned, I don't think C is one of the 12 people, and even said that in the first season, Aunt C and the 12 people did not know each other and had no actual connection.
First, look back at the second episode of the first season, what C said when he invited Eve to join his secret team.
Aunt C said that she, like Eve, is also following a series of international murders in recent years, and believes that their occurrence is premeditated and organized. But intuition alone is useless, and there is no reason to conduct a formal investigation without a real hammer. Had to set up a private secret investigation team (for the time being only himself and his son Kenny), and invited eve to join. Regarding Eve's question, " Why did you invite me? " Aunt C said so.
Eve's intuition and passion for research on perverted killers successfully won C's favor. Although Aunt C has already said, this job is not as good as eve's previous treatment at MI5. But in the face of C's "warning", Eve said to go to his salary promotion, I want to do this (find her), I am too interested.
Aunt C said welcome. Kenny is a master searcher, so it's just a matter of your intuition to discover the connections behind this.
The performance of Aunt C in this clip is hard to believe that this is one of 12 people who are holding the script and fighting each other. On the contrary, it makes me feel that C, like Eve at this time, knows nothing about 12 people and villanelle. The difference is that Aunt C has personal resources that Eve does not have; Eve has a special intuition (telepathy) that no one else has.
Aunt C said in the second season that she is just a person doing her best, letting everyone play their role.
Carolyn wants to know everything, Eve wants to find her (V). The two women just stood in the same boat and pulled Kenny, Bill and Elena on the black female colleague by the way.
Question 2: Who sent villanelle to monitor Eve? Why?
Having talked about Aunt C, let’s talk about the other member of the "Father and Strict Mother" group, Konstantin and Uncle Kang.
At the beginning of the sixth episode of the second season, eve and niko were playing cosplay in the house, while villanelle watched all this in the rain outside the window, with a complicated expression.
In fact, in the first season, villanelle was asked to monitor Eve's activities. Who gave the order?
It's Uncle Kang, not 12 people.
First, at the end of the second episode, Uncle Kang told villanelle that a woman named eve polastri was tracking her in London.
Comparing the above timeline, you will find that the plot is extremely scary. Eve only joined the secret office on Thursday morning. On Friday night, the 12-person side Konstantin learned the intelligence and the name of Eve. This also made it possible for villanelle to use eve polastri as a pseudonym in the assassination in Berlin.
So, how did the information leak to Uncle Kang? Everyone who has seen the complete works knows that Frank, the chief of MI5, and the former boss of eve, was a rape who was bought by 12 people. He was responsible for providing all known information to 12 people and died in the fifth episode.
After Eve joined the secret office, in order to confirm whether there was CCTV (surveillance video) at the scene of the Vienna assassination, on Friday, Bill and Elena went to the bar to block Frank and asked about CCTV. Therefore, it is reasonable to speculate that the news in the above picture was revealed by Frank. The news leaked so quickly, I wonder if Frank has Uncle Kang's WeChat and directly voiced it. (laugh)
Immediately after the Berlin SM club assassination, villanelle stayed outside the crime scene and waited for Eve. After all, he had just committed a prank (using Eve’s name to commit the crime), and the child smashed the window of someone’s house and kept secretly looking at the window owner. reaction. And Uncle Kang, who came here at this time, probably didn't know about the prank she had done (after returning to Paris, I asked about the name).
Uncle Kang stuck in his waist and said: "I want you to monitor Eve's every move and know who she has seen."
It is worth noting that Uncle Kang said that this is my private request, not "them", this "them" should be the mysterious "The Twelve".
Why is it that Uncle Kang asked Villanelle to monitor Eve instead of 12 people's request? This is how I speculated (brain supplement). At the beginning, 12 people didn't put Eve in their eyes. After all, Eve looked like an ordinary logistics worker and was fired. At the end of the first season, Uncle Kang mentioned that villanelle is "a killer that makes the organization proud". So naturally I will not pay too much attention to eve.
Another reason is that Uncle Kang's "care" for villanelle.
I think Uncle Kang’s attitude towards V is not just using it, it must be partly concerned, but it is also only part of it. When faced with the choice between his family and V, Uncle Kang will still choose his family without hesitation. Konstantin was worried that villanelle would be caught, so he told V to "watch her".
The line design of this piece is very interesting. Aunt C asked Eve to " find her ", and Uncle Kang asked Villanelle to " watch her ". Hey, this inexplicable sense of synchronization caused me to knock two cps at the same time.
There is also a line echoing up and down as shown in the figure below.
Villanelle's ability to learn (imitate) is too strong.
Let me talk about the deaths of two characters.
Although basically every episode of Killing Eve uses fancy lunch boxes, there are two special lunch boxes. The killing of bill and frank can be said to be an important node to promote the development of the plot.
Question 3: Why does villanelle kill bill?
In the fifth episode, Eve asked villanelle this question, V gave a puzzled answer, and directly angered Eve to pick up the knife, although he was robbed of the knife unexpectedly.
Here V replied that Bill dragged Eve back, so he killed Bill. This is really full of question marks. In fact, Bill helped Eve a lot in Berlin and even prevented Villanelle from tracking Eve.
In this section of the subway, V who received the "watch her" task surrounded the green silk scarf stolen from Eve, strode to the same subway and follow her. But he was stopped by the careful Bill and asked her where to buy the silk scarf. I wanted to make one too. The door closed and the tracking of Eve failed. Villanelle turned and left without looking back. Bill hurriedly followed up with an anti-tracking. Unexpectedly, villanelle had noticed it earlier, and deliberately led him to a noisy nightclub, and neatly handed out a bento to Bill.
Bill's death not only gave Eve a reason to stabbed at the end of the play, but was also a very important turning point for the development of the subsequent plot.
At this time , I return to the above question. Why did Villanelle kill Bill? I think the reason is not that he dragged Eve back, but that he dragged Villanelle's approach to Eve. Bill, niko, these two men lie between V and E. And villanelle's method of dealing with obstacles is simple and rude, kill it.
In the afternoon, the video call Eve made with Niko was tapped by V before he left for the meeting. Bill appeared, V even jumped back and listened to Bill's name again, and then showed a strange expression.
Then in the subway station, Bill interrupted V's tracking. At this time, V has already identified bill as an "obstacle" and needs to be removed.
Imagine if Bill did not find V in the subway station and did not prevent V from following, how would the following story develop?
In order to investigate the Berlin murder, Eve had to agree to have dinner with Kim (this person does not introduce your own memories). And Jin gave Eve a USB flash drive in the dining room, which contained things that the deceased had found before his death. It was this thing that caused his murder. It is speculated that the data in the U disk must be related to 12 people, because V is a killer serving the 12-person organization. The follow-up plot also proved this point. Kenny discovered the traitor Frank only after investigating the U disk data. And Aunt Eve and Aunt C learned of the existence of the organization "the twelve", which was inquired by Frank.
If villanelle is successfully tracked that night, the USB flash drive may be exposed. It is more than enough to steal a USB flash drive with V's skill, (or 12 people will ask V to kill eve) Eve may not be able to find frank. Frank doesn’t have to die, V Russia’s ex pumpkin doesn’t need to appear, and V doesn’t have to go to the Moscow prison to hunt down the pumpkin.
It can be said that Bill's death is like a key, opening a series of plots that follow.
However, the screenwriter is also very ruthless. At the beginning of describing the cute little old man Bill, he left an impression on the audience, and suddenly sent a bento. Not only eve could not accept it, but we also felt it was very sudden.
After talking about Bill's death, let's talk about Frank, from the appearance to the lunch box, what role did he play in the plot.
Frank appeared in the first episode, an annoying boss image. I thought he was just playing soy sauce, and when he was the background board, I didn't expect that the fourth episode broke out as the insider of MI5. Eve found Frank on this side, and the 12 people also acted simultaneously and sent a trio of killers to solve Frank.
The lines in this section are very intriguing . Eve rushed to find Carolyn after learning that Frank might be a rape. Aunt C told Eve not to be too anxious when she got the news. I think both C and E are aware of Bill's death at this time, and Frank can't escape the blame. But obviously Aunt C is more concerned about whether Frank can bring more effective information.
Frank's death contributed to another turning point in the first season. Villanelle was sent to her natal prison to solve Nadia, and the main scene was moved from London to Moscow.
From here, the plot information of the last three episodes of the first season is extremely compact and dense, and the relationship between the characters has become more complicated. I will select some fragments later for a more detailed interpretation and analysis.
