★★★★☆ The third part of the
so-called revenge of
Park Chan-wook’s revenge trilogy, "The Good Gold", was Almost all film critics praised it as gorgeous revenge. Is it really gorgeous? In fact, there are only red blood and red eyeshadow. Everyone said that this is basically the second-best in the trilogy, and it may be a tie with "Old Boy".
I haven't watched the two previous ones, so it's not easy to compare them. Had to discuss matters monotonously.
Li Yingai's red eyeshadow, curly black hair and her expressionless face, I love these more than this film. Oh, and that little dress. The sweetest attire of the vengeful woman. If she is asked to dress her like an ordinary working people, what revenge is there to talk about. A woman who pursues beauty and exquisite details will implement such a detailed revenge plan. Even the guns used to execute criminals must have beautiful silver sculptures.
What impressed me the most was the last paragraph. From when they discussed how to deal with the kidnapper with the human face and animal heart until all the punishments were completed, they sat in a cafe, quietly eating cakes and drinking coffee. This is a place where I can't sleep. In one shot, they were all sitting in a row in raincoats full of blood. Only the old grandmother in a mink coat, with a serious expression, walked in quietly, and walked out quietly after a while, spotlessly clean. As the camera turned, a pair of scissors were inserted straight into the back of the sinner's neck.
This is the real power of revenge. If the old grandmother cuts down the sinner more than a dozen times like a butcher and puts on a bloody look, this film can't be called "gorgeous". The so-called gorgeousness is just the right interpretation of everything. Such as blood and anger.
I don’t know if this kind of plot is thought of by the screenwriter or by the director. I have not been able to distinguish between the responsibilities of the director and the screenwriter. How can the director be able to play the basis.
There are a million possibilities for the development of an event. The most extreme is the one-millionth. Things in the movie always make strides towards this one-millionth possibility, and finally evolve into the real world. Different alternative situations. I think this is the necessity for the existence of movies. Some extreme ideas are always insinuated so that the world is illusory and interesting. "Golden" is a typical example of this kind of movie.
The world needs such a story to fill in its gaps.
Let the music kiss you.
Another thing worth mentioning is its original sound. The Barrot-style pipe organ is in harmony with the usual scenes in daily life. You will feel that if the world is really like this, you will suffer pain and revenge. Depression seems to be worthwhile. The classical soundtrack tells us that life can still be like this, just like chocolate is wine, unintentionally matched with an alternative and beautiful taste.
I often imagine that when I am doing something, if there is so-and-so music, then life must be much more perfect. It's a pity that I can pretend the flow and existence of these notes, but others don't know anything about it, so we seem to have to live in our own world. From this, can it be said that anyone's world is difficult to explore and enter.
Afterword: I
watched the introduction of the film a long time ago, and I was attracted to it like a puppy looking for bones, but after seeing it, I felt that it was the same. It was not as gorgeous as I imagined. In fact, I still don’t want the movie. Have any good expectations. There are nothing more than two kinds of things written by film critics, blowing to heaven and going to hell, no matter what, they are basically inconsistent with the facts, so children, let's believe in your own eyes.
