Terry and Sonny

The film is not long, more than a hundred minutes, and I feel that the first half of the film was really good. The execution of a death sentence brought out the main characters and gave them their own personalities. But it feels a bit abrupt in the second half, especially the development of the relationship between the two. For Hank, racial hostility is not a matter of one or two days, or even "ancestral". How did he break this shackle all at once? This transition feels too hasty, is it just because of the loss of his son, and to be honest, he did not show much grief when he lost his son?

The most tragic thing in the whole movie is the two sons who died young, one who comforted herself with sweets, whether it was a childhood without paternal love or the possible discrimination because of his skin color. And Sonny, played by Heath Ledger, may have lost his mother at a young age, and did not receive the care he deserves in the process of getting along with his father and grandfather. His father has strong control over his life and work, making him want to have someone. The warm relationship with people before death, the dialogue before death is short but full of despair:

Sonny-"You hate me? Answer me. You hate me, don't you?"

Hank-"Yeah, I hate you. I always did."

Sonny-""Well, I always loved you. ”

Heath Ledger committed suicide. I was really scared and crying. I angrily asked if you hated me and then applied to answer that I have always loved you. Finally, he shot himself. . . It was very uncomfortable. . I like another translated name to embrace the sunny sky

Desperate son said: "you hate me ?" "you hate me, don`t you?" Father said: "yes, i always did." Son said: "but i always love you." Despair is so desperate!
