This is not a 100% perfect movie. Different people can find different faults when watching it. As for me, the only failure was that the last queen shook her head twice while walking before speaking. It really made people feel a bit pretentious. However, this flaw is not a flaw for those who like this film.
It is not a petty bourgeois movie, it does not reflect personal sentiments, living habits, and a total of nothing. It is a movie about heroes. After watching it, people always have the urge to write something. The most distinctive feature of this movie is the word "atmosphere". Whether it is a charge in a war, a fight in a duel, or the protagonist's masculine character. Except for this movie, no other movies have been found that can produce a similar feeling. The biggest difference between it and other heroic films is that the focus of this film is not to show the hero's fighting ability. When people think of it, the first thing they think of is not how strong the protagonist’s kung fu is, but that the protagonist died in order to realize the republic and seek the most freedom.
At the beginning of the film, the director spent more than ten minutes of intense color, and meticulously represented a classic ancient battle. And another battle that the film focuses on is the first battle after Persimius was sent to Rome. In the first game, the strong defeated the weak. There was no suspense. The main purpose was the performance of the screen, but it was enough to see the director's ability to grasp the grand battle scene. In the second battle, the weak defeated the strong. At the beginning of the battle, the protagonist was really sweating. In addition to the principle of Saint Seiya who believes that he is the protagonist of the movie, he will definitely not die, and he firmly believes that he will definitely not die. Watching a movie like this, because a movie about a hero kills the protagonist halfway, it’s really rare.) If emotions are integrated into the plot of the movie, it’s a very exciting battle. It was also that battle that won the hearts of the Roman people for Persimius, thus embarking on the road of contending against the prince.
The highlight of the film, in addition to the grand plot and picture, and the honor of winning five Oscar statuettes, I think the most interesting thing is its music. Of course, this music also won a golden figure for this film (if I remember correctly). I dare not say that there is no more music than it in other films, but in terms of its soundtrack level, it will definitely not be placed in the second-rate queue. And the combination of melody and picture can be so perfect, so impressive, and the film that can be compared with it, it is estimated that there is no need to move your toes. If I have to point out other movie music of the same level, among the movies I have watched, the only two I can think of are "Infernal Affairs" and "Rain Man" that can be compared. (Does not rule out the reason why I watch too few movies) There are two main themes in the film. A fast-paced, mainly used for the climax of combat. This rhythm is very famous, even if you haven't seen Gladiator, you will not be unfamiliar with it. Because it is often cited in various domestic documentaries and film and television episodes. The other has a slower rhythm and a female vocal. It usually appears when the film needs to be lyrical. What impressed me was that at the end of the film, Persimius died. After the queen shook her head and said, "He died for the republic" speech, the sentence "Glory him" and the music sounded. I think many people, like me, can't control their lacrimal glands at this moment.
Before the end of the film, Persimius's comrades buried the wooden figure representing his wife in the arena. "Now, we are free. I will see you again. but not yet, not yet." Then walked out of the dim arena under the sunset shining, giving people endless thoughts. They are free. When he is old and dead, they will meet again eventually. What will they talk about when they meet again? Will you fight side by side again? In the rest of his life, will he miss this passionate and bloody time? Or, objectively speaking, they died when they died~ They turned into a cloud of dust, leaving nothing behind, only the next story to be circulated for future generations to legend.
