For me, who is passionate about all kinds of dystopias, one of the greatest pleasures is to appreciate the author's settings and details of the social system. For example, the telescreen and Big Brother in "1984", the social hierarchy in "Brave New World", the name and number of "We" and sex by ticket, as well as the V for Vendetta, the Black Mirror Draft and the latest " "Snow Country Train" and so on... It is a joy of thinking to carefully study the metaphor and reality mapping.
This time I watched "The Divergent", mainly because it was rumored to have ambitions in the setting of the social system, which made me look forward to it. I took the risk of being spoiled before reading it. There is the original work. In the original world of New York, the social structure is not vertical, but horizontal. It is divided into five major factions: honesty, wisdom, peace, fearlessness, and selflessness... …
Wait, this sounds like the five creeds of knights or the five virtues of heroes. It looks mysterious and connotative.
After watching the movie, I finally understood. These five factions can simply be summarized into five career orientations-honest lawyers or politicians, (sounds ironic) intellectual scientists, peaceful farmers, fearless soldiers and selfless, uh, volunteers. ? Probably a volunteer, right? Anyway, judging from the movie, this faction has nothing special except being super kind and caring. It is kind as a bunch of white rabbits. Their characteristic is to help others, so everyone trusts these live Lei Fengs and let them be in power-you can probably guess the ending.
I have also seen similar settings. Regarding professional solidification, everyone is injected with drugs or labels from birth. This is the only way to go in this life. The world of the divergent has this kind of meaning, but it’s not so cruel. Children can grow up freely, and at most they are influenced by their parents. The factions of their parents determine different ways of life, but I only remember that the selfless sect is vegetarian. Let me fall in favor of them.
However, when each child is eighteen or sixteen years old, he must make a choice and decide his own faction affiliation. The government will provide you with a test, similar to the sorting hat in Harry Potter, but you still have the last choice. Some children are willing to stay in the same faction with their parents, and some rebellious bear children ran away elsewhere. Really, in all dystopian movies, this kind of setting can be regarded as a benevolent one.
Then the heroine appeared, and she could not choose any of the five factions-she must be a Libra, with serious selection disorder-this kind of person is called a disagreement in that society, and it is considered to be an uncontrollable factor and must be killed. . So... well, that's all for the spoiler, and I won't talk about the rest.
In short, "The Divergent" is a more worry-free and interesting movie. Although it is full of metaphors to reality, they are all subtly straightforward and not obscure-you know, this is a film for American teenagers. ——The style of the five major factions has become a natural segmentation reminder. As the protagonist moves forward, you can easily remove the metaphorical and symbolic fragments embedded in the plot, and finally piece them together into a complete central idea.
What’s rare is that the whole world view is not too depressing, the story is light and smooth, and the heroine is also a refreshing person. Utopia films are as solemn and dim as the colors. It’s a pity that there is no in-depth discussion of the entire social system in this film, nor is it explained why the survivors have to be divided into five painful factions. The core theme is in the end. When it comes to the choice and self-recognition of the female protagonist, and to the reality of China, it is the confusion and perplexity of teenagers who choose their majors by volunteers. Therefore, this movie can only be regarded as a dystopia, and it is not enough to be enjoyable. I hope that the latter two movies can give a detailed explanation and smash the old world a bit more.
By the way, when it comes to this movie for American teenagers, there is a very good detail in it. When the heroine and heroine are eager for love and rapture, the heroine suddenly presses the actor's upward groping hand and says that we can't be so fast. The blunt actor immediately reined in abruptly and said: OK! Then the two went to sleep separately! Sleep separately! The three views are straightforward...
It is worth mentioning that the psychological offensive and defensive in the second half of the film is very exciting, and the physical confrontation of psychological activities is more fun than the fight between a group of stupid men, children and men in the first half. When the actor gave the heroine a psychological challenge test, he said that when you enter the mental space, you will see what you fear most. If you can successfully overcome it, you can become fearless.
I'm not spoiled about what they saw, but when I saw that period, I couldn't help thinking, if it were me, what was the most feared in my heart, and what would I see after putting on that instrument? Don't answer in such a hurry, because sometimes you don't even know yourself.
Is it a grasshopper in the sky?
Is it steaming chicken soup all over the room?
The dark room or the long-haired female ghost in the mirror?
After the film was over, I exchanged opinions with the people who watched the film together, and finally came to the same conclusion.
There is nothing we are most afraid of seeing than-being poor.
