Apart from children, who else can you trust? A Brief Analysis of the Characters in "The Past"

"Farewell" directed by Farhati last year left a deep impression on me. This year's "The Past" is more literary, lengthy and trivial, but it fits my appetite for detail control. Friends who like short, flat and fast commercials can ignore you. I definitely can't stand it.

The story revolves around the hostess who has been married three times, the husband who is separated, the boyfriend who lives together, his two daughters (born by the first husband), and the boyfriend's son live in the same room within a few days. In addition, her boyfriend has a vegetative wife lying in the hospital.

The eldest daughter: She looks mature and looks more like a sister when she stands with her young mother. Rebellious, get along well with his stepfather, and strongly oppose his mother's third marriage. As a 16-year-old middle school student, she put this opposition into action and was very planned. Call for an address and send an email. Peeping at her mother's mail, using her stepfather to put pressure on her mother (inexplicably raining in pear blossoms), and ran away from home. And the truth is not revealed all at once. Too scheming! I suspected that she had a crush on her mother's boyfriend or vice versa, and watching the scene of handing a teapot at breakfast, I knew that her boyfriend was really afraid of her.

Boyfriend: A child who hasn't grown up yet. Before his wife was depressed, they should have loved each other very much. He is a very dependent person. He broke the suitcase and broke this trivial matter. Despite the fact that his girlfriend was making three consecutive phone calls in court to ask how to deal with it, his important documents were littered and he couldn't find the car keys all day long. As for the feelings, he is right that he is the recipient. When driving, he pulls his girlfriend's hands away. When he educates his children, he is in stark contrast with his girlfriend and only cares about and disciplines his own son. From the bottom of his heart, he didn't want to be the parent of this family. His girlfriend was just a substitute he encountered, and pregnancy was also an accident. PS, has anyone noticed the details of him walking in the rain to turn off the lights? That's great.

Actress: Best Actress in Cannes. I haven't watched other competitors' films and I can't compare them. I think this film is a little bit hard, she works hard on everyone, she will be very tired. Both men have become tools in her hands. Various forms of noisy fights, just right hand injuries, and announcing of pregnancy are actually acting like a baby to attract attention. Who does she love more? I can't tell. I'm afraid she can't tell it by herself.

Husband: The man who looks the most normal and reasonable in the whole movie. With a little bit of depth, we followed him to understand the truth of the matter. But is he really all right? According to the description, he is good at cooking, repairing water and electricity, getting along with his stepdaughter better than his father, and being patient with his wife. The beginning of the film is in the car, and the careful person will immediately feel that his love for the heroine is still there. How did such a couple break up? The film has never been explained. It only revealed that he had also suffered from depression, and that as an Iranian, he has never felt like belonging in France. This time his departure should be completely aborted.

Boyfriend's son: 8 years old, he was the age a dog would hate. He didn't want to go home and live because he saw his mother commit suicide with his own eyes. When living in the hostess's house, all sorts of opposing actions were made, but he was unwilling to leave. But no matter what, a father-son conversation at the subway station, what the child said is the only truth for all the characters. Everyone else, what they said may not be what they thought, at least not all.

I also want to follow the trend and compliment the soundtrack of the movie. Except for the end of the film, there are only ambient sounds in other places, but silence is better than sound. In the silent section of the film, I did not turn on the loud volume. I got it right!
