A little thought

In the middle, there was a scene of a big cousin going to Beijing to preach, which made me feel very interesting, but what was not said in the movie was very clear. I guess it was he and other people who went to Beijing to teach Christianity, but because of different beliefs, he was caught at the time. Someone thought it was a cult, burned his friend to death, and then carved a cross on his back. In the movie, the people on the island have always believed in their religion, but they don't know that their religion is a means of satisfying their own selfish desires through artificial packaging. In fact, I have always felt that religious belief is in a balance between black and white. You can use this belief to bring power to your own soul, or you can use this belief to control others. After all, belief is a very powerful one. Power, the best way to control a person is probably to control what he believes.

Quinn in the movie, as a member of the prophet, watched his daughter go to the bathroom and had an abnormal possessiveness towards her daughter. He thought that Jeremy had soiled the angel in his heart. He didn't know that he was killing because someone else let him. His daughter is pregnant, or because he cannot accept that the person who made his daughter pregnant is not himself.

I still like some of the bloody scenes in the second half of the movie, but this kind of movie that involves religion seems to always be a routine. It is nothing more than subverting one’s beliefs and destroying one’s perception of the world, so it’s not particularly true. New Idea, Quinn was the last villain in it, so he was awe-inspiring for ten minutes, and then he died, which seemed quite inexplicable.

Apostle quotes

  • [first lines]

Elaine: [in her letter] My dearest father... I pray that you have not been consumed with worry in the time that has passed since I was taken. I write to you in the hope that you will put an end to my suffering on this wretched island. My captors inform me that if I am to survive, you must travel here alone with the means to purchase my freedom. That should a man of lawbe sent in your stead, it would seal my fate. Father, I grow weary.

Charles: [now reading it out loud] I fear our Lord no longer hears my prayer. Yet still, I pray for your presence... for my savior. Please bring me home. Your beloved daughter...

  • Prophet Malcolm: [fervently to his congregation] Where is the land which has no call for wars? Hmm? Arms? Money? Nor taxes? Well, that land is here. No tax-gatherer's bill shall ever threaten our church door! We, I tell thee, we... we are free men.
