The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Robert Saviano. It tells the story of the crime of drug trafficking and gang fights organized by Skovra in Naples. During the Cannes Film Festival, when Naples Prison screened "Gamola" for prisoners, a former Mafia member recognized that the murderer in the film was the escaped Mafia member Giovanni Vannosso. The police followed the vine and arrested Giovanni.
