Luis Bunuel’s most labelled movie is probably "An Andalu Dog". Behind this movie are actually two surrealist gods-Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali. .

They have been out of this world for more than 30 years. But "to this day there are still faint whispers following their legend."

Let me talk about the birth of "An Andalu Dog".

During that time Bunuel lived in Dali's house. One night Bunuel had a dream. In the dream, a cloud crossed the moon, causing Bunuel to think of a blade opening his eyes. After waking up, he told Dali about the dream. As a result, Dali told him that he also had a dream last night. He dreamed of a hand covered with ants.

So the two decided to combine these two dreams into a movie. In less than a week, the two completed the script. Bunuel went home to find money. Back in Paris, it took two weeks to get drunk and make movies.

The actors who appeared in the film did not know what they were doing, and the staff involved in the film did not know what they were shooting.

Later, Buñuel recalled that Dali did not come to the shooting site until three days before the end of the film. His job was to deal with the donkey and star in a cameo. However, the ants, donkeys, naked women, liquid clocks that we later saw in the film... are all elements that have appeared in Dali's paintings, so I think Dali's contribution to the film is obvious. Of course, the most famous image of the blade cutting the eyeball in the film comes from Bunuel.

Buñuel and Dalí met in college. Together with Lorca, they are inseparable, despising all rules, and arrogant and mellow.

Lorca later became a famous Spanish poet. The poet Bei Dao wrote "Lorga, A Sorrowful Wind in the Olive Grove".

Lorca has unusual feelings for Dali. Later scholars also believed that Dali and Lorga had a comradeship, but Dali always denied the existence of this special relationship. Homosexuality was not accepted in the society at the time, and Buñuel was also against homosexuality.

The reason for the trio's breakup is that Buñuel and Dali are more pursuing personal artistic expression to be recognized by the society and the realization of their personal values. They both went to the sacred place of art-Paris, to continue their artistic dreams.

While Lorca created his poems, he was also concerned about the suffering of the people's lives, actively devoted himself to politics, faced the fascist rule of Franco's regime, and called on the people to resist. Eventually died of Franco's butcher knife, only 38 years old, Buñuel sent a memorial article.

Lorca also appeared in the story of "An Andalusian Dog". After the film was released, Lorca became angry. He thought the film was saying that he was an Andalusian dog. He was called the "Son of Andalusia" at the time. ", according to legend, there is a Spanish proverb: An Andalusian dog is barking, and a nightmare is coming.

Buñuel and Dali did not respond to this. Later, Buñuel and Dali also parted ways. Legend has it for two reasons: women, fame and fortune.

The woman refers to Dali’s wife, Gala .

Gala was the goddess in the eyes of many people in Paris' avant-garde literary circle at that time. The story about her needs more space to finish. Here we only briefly introduce the part about her, Buñuel and Dali.

When I met Gala, she was still the wife of the poet Eluya. Dali saw her as a god, but Buñuel met her but became an enemy. Legend has it that there was a fight between Bunuel and Gala. Bunuel strangled Gala's throat, Dali knelt, and Bunuel let Gala go. According to Eluard's later statement with Bunuel, he often carried a gun during that time because Gala believed that Bunuel was going to kill her. Later Gala became Dali's wife. With such a wife, it was too difficult for Dali to maintain his brotherhood with Buñuel.

About fame and wealth . Buñuel once got a job as a film director of the Spanish Civil War in Hollywood. However, at the beginning of work, suddenly the US government announced a ban on filming movies about the Spanish Civil War.

Bunuel became unemployed and began a period of what was later called "the darkest period of his life" in his memoirs. In order to make a living, Bunuel even turned to the gang boss to get a job in the restaurant kitchen. Later, acquaintances introduced him to the position of Director of the Film Department of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

However, at this time, Dali published a book-"Dali's Mysterious Career". In the book Dalí described Bunuel as an atheist. In the American society at the time, this was completely inadmissible in society. It is generally believed that Bunuel is a member of the Communist Party. Therefore, the Museum of Modern Art in New York expelled Buñuel, and the government even hoped to expel him from New York. Later, in a meeting with Dali, Bunuel complained to Dali about the matter. As a result, Dali said nonchalantly: "The protagonist of this book is me. You are only a supporting role. The Americans are too stupid." Later, it is said that in an interview, Buñuel said he was very happy to have a glass of champagne with Dali before his death. Dali said after watching the interview: "I am also very happy, but I don't drink."

This is the story of Buñuel and Dali falling in love and killing each other. In this story, we have seen two great art gods stepping down from the altar, with the feelings of flesh and blood. At the same time, I saw that it was their rich feelings and obsession with self-expression that made their art out of the sky that belonged to them.
