Paris is more beautiful than love

Compared with the ordinary name "Love in Paris", I still prefer the literal Chinese name "Kiss of France" in the film, which is more in line with the plot and more imaginative. Think about the kiss of which nation in this world can be compared with that of the French? American kisses have too much sensuality, British kisses have too many polite forms, Italian kisses are too unrestrained, and German kisses are too blunt. Only the kiss of France is truly romantic, elegant, just right and perfect.
This movie once made me think about it, and it turns out that I was mostly wrong. First, I thought Meg Ryan and Jean Renault were the leading roles, but in fact, Renault was just a supporting role with few scenes and poor roles. The real male protagonist is a prodigal son who turns around, a former playboy who knows women, and a man who has regained his dreams. I don't know if his image is in line with the image of a French man in people's impressions, but I don't like his long hair and dress, but he is really good, and it makes people like it more and more. Secondly, I have always thought that this film is a romantic light comedy that takes place in Paris, but I was wrong again. Only about one-third of the plot of this film takes place in Paris, and it is not very romantic. After all, this is the United States. People's movies are just moving the location from Hollywood or New York to France. In other words, Sister Mei can't perform the kind of French romance and elegance I want.
After watching "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Electronic Love Letters", I started to like Sister Mei, but after watching "City of Angels" and the movie, I became bored with Sister Mei. Her performance is always like that, with a silly innocent and kind-hearted female image, always a little slow to love, but she always reaps sincere love. Sister Mei, can you act something different? The same is true for Kate in this film. When her fiance has changed her heart, she chases after her to Paris, hoping to reclaim her fiance's heart. On the plane, she met Luke, the thief who was about to turn his back on the prodigal son. Kate is just the same dull and completely ignorant of men, while Luke helps her forget her fiance step by step, regardless of motives, unintentional, or good intentions. In short, when she can finally regain her fiance's heart, she has fallen in love with Luke. This kind of plot is quite old-fashioned, we can guess the final ending from the first minute, and the design in the middle is not clever, only the plot of the necklace is a bit new and unexpected.
Perhaps due to the lack of plot, the film intends to make up for it in terms of scenery. This film can be said to show the beauty of France to the maximum. The art metropolis Paris first appeared, the towering Eiffel Tower, the majestic Arc de Triomphe, and the majestic Louvre are eye-catching. Then there are the most romantic southern vineyards in France, and finally the blue Mediterranean near Nice. France, can you be more beautiful?
Compared with Kate and Luke's love, Luke's childhood memories, and his childhood dream of owning his own vineyard, seem to be more romantic and beautiful. The love between Kate and her fiance, and the love between her fiance and his French girlfriend, is really a big irony of love.
The last scene of the vineyard in the sun and the lazy "La vie en rose" is really beautiful, so beautiful that I forget the plot and I am completely immersed in the French style.

French Kiss quotes

  • Luc: First, you must take some wine.

    [Kate sips from her glass]

Luc: Can you describe it, the taste?

Kate: It's a nice, red wine.

Luc: I think you can do better.

Kate: A bold wine with a hint of sophistication and lacking in pretension.

    [beat]

Kate: Actually, I was just talking about myself. I...

Luc: No, no, you are not wrong. Wine is like people. The vine takes all the influences in life all around it, it absorbs them, and it gets its personality. Here.

    [uncorks a small bottle]

    Luc: Smell.

    Kate: Rosemary.

    [another bottle]

    Kate: Some kind of mushroom?

    Luc: Very good.

    [pointing to other bottles]

Luc: Currant, cassis, mint, lavender. They are all in the ground here, and in the air. Now, taste the wine again. Close your eyes.

Kate: [does so] Hmm... the currant, I can taste that right away. And, uh, from the brown bottle... lavender?

    [Luc nods, smiling]

    Kate: Incredible.

  • Luc: Kate.

    Kate: [hopefully] Yes?

Luc: You are not afraid to fly any more? You are thinking of your little stone cottage?

Kate: It's on a hillside next to a beautiful vineyard. But that's not really what I'm thinking about.

Luc: What are you thinking about?

    Kate: You.
