Middle-aged thoughts of Takeshi Kitano

The Zatoichi series is a very popular movie in Japan. Its prosperous period was from the 1960s to the 1980s. Katsu Shintaro became famous for playing Zatoichi. The plot of the Zatoshi series of films is very simple: the barefoot blind man who lives in the countryside is highly martial arts, and he is good at making sharp knives. He often acts out of morality and justice to curb evil and eliminate traitors for the villagers. Kitano Takeshi’s new work by Zatoichi continues this tradition, but it has a deeper theme: Asano Tadanobu played the down-set samurai Hattori Gennosuke. Because his wife was seriously ill, he died of a hero with a penny and joined the bandit group to help him abuse. His two contests with Zatou City are the highlight of the movie. Although Zato City sympathized with his martial arts, out of morals, he had to kill him in the end, which was his fate. The whole film of "Zato City" has a rapid rhythm and a degree of relaxation. The peaceful life in the country and the vicious fight between the knight and the evil are intertwined, forming a kind of tension. The commendable scene of the duel between the knight and the evil is magnificent, swift and fierce. In fact, the continuation is only the tactics of the predecessors such as Kurosawa Akira, Kuroki Kazuo, Gosha Heroes, and Tanaka Tokusan. It is not surprising. The blonde hair of Zato City and the tap dance at the end certainly add a modern touch to the whole film, but the magical brush is to describe the farmer’s work in the rain with a hoe, like a dance. There is a leisurely walk in the hard work. The rhythm of the hoe’s tapping coincides with the background. There is a percussive and mellow sound, and next to it is the fateful and lonely city of Zato. The image is rich, not only the essence of the original essays, but also the side brushes of the middle-aged Kitano Takeshi's thoughts.
