For a nation to resist its invaders, the greatest misfortune is not the sacrifices made when fighting against it. This is necessary. Rather, it is when a peace treaty is reached, a flawed and constrained by historical reality, the ethnic division resulting from the peace treaty.

"The Wind Blows the Rice Waves" is just such a story. The left-wing director Ken Loach described such a sad Irish independent story with the split of brotherhood. The ending is far from over. The Irish Republican Army is far from over in the 700-year history of Irish independence.
