There are no bloody monsters. The original novel is a work that allows Cronenberg to use his expertise in psychoanalysis all day. As a novel, "Naked Lunch" is a loose system. The director did not copy the original work, but chose a part of the content and put the plot of the novel created by the author William Burroughs into the film, which is equivalent to realizing the starting point of Burroughs' writing. The actor Bill Lee is himself. In 1951, 37-year-old Burroughs was playing William Tell's game on a whim with his wife Joan in a Mexican bar. Joan was addicted to amphetamines and the two were enthusiastic, but Burroughs shot his wife’s forehead with a pistol. One shot was killed, and the local judge judged that it was an accidental homicide. Burroughs was detained for 12 days and released bail before he was free. He was deeply guilty of the murder of his wife throughout his life, and was inspired by this to write "Naked Lunch"-the first novel in his creative career. He once said that there would be no such work without Joan. And Cronenberg made a semi-biographical movie: it tells how a man named Bill Lee wrote a novel called "Nude Lunch" after he killed his wife by mistake. After returning home, Bill proposed to play the William Tell routine with his wife and shot Joan to death.
In the bar, Bill met a gay boy named Kiki and met Mugwump, a strange creature that looked like a bitter gourd alien. He asked him to go to Interzone and write a report on the Clark Nova typewriter.
In Interzone, Bill meets Hans, a German who uses black centipede meat to make drugs.
The typewriter in the room turned into a giant beetle talking with its ass, allowing Bill to spy under the cover of homosexuality.
Bill reunited with Kiki at a local party and met Tom and Joan, a couple of writers from the United States. Tom also lent him his Martinelli typewriter.

film is a bit fatalistic and pessimistic. Although the main plot is too poorly related, it seems to be moving in one direction. There are exotic spy battle plots (if talking asshole is counted) and surreal scenes of blood and mucus flowing out of the alienation of human objects. It is about a zero-motivated writer who lost his wife and became a listener in order to track down an inexplicable black centipede meat drug processing plant. The spy commanded by the butt eventually found the nest of the drug factory and took his wife away, but in the end he lost the experience of the beloved (it can’t be called a story), just like all theorists say, telling stories and clocks" "Tick" sounds the same, there is a tig, there is a tag, but it is obvious that from the original to the movie, the tig and the tag are either too far apart or simply pressed back, and there are many blank passages, such as Bill participating in Interzone The party didn't show up at all. Of course, one of the director’s special special effects for makeup and props is also the focus of attention. Many of the monster beetles in his movies are characterized by ugliness that can arouse disgust. When Mugwump came out, it was really uncomfortable, but I saw all of them. When hanging in the Mugwumps in the drug factory, they suddenly felt that they were so cute. The person in charge of the visual effects was still the Chris Walas team who got the Golden Man with Fly.
