Like his structure

The structure of his films is very similar, the "X"-shaped bifurcation-convergence-bifurcation, on both sides are infinite open bodies, instead of carefully designing a complete and closed narrative.

His film seems to be an "on-going story", a self-conscious life entity. The characters in the story are not told about the past and the future. There is no flashback of memory, only the ongoing plot, just like The story will still grow outside of this movie. Everyone in the story does not exist for the purpose of achieving this story. Outside of the movie, they still have their own independent stories.

This structure is most apparent in "Outlaws".

This is the reason why I like him.

What a fun inspiration for the Three Kings

I really like this kind of slow and leisurely life. Life is like a river, sometimes it splits, sometimes it merges, and I don’t know where it flows.

Down by Law quotes

  • L.C.: How's the ladies treatin' ya?

    Jack: Ow!

L.C.: Well, you know, Jack, how that goes. If you get enough of it, do like the crawfish, back on out of it.

  • Zack: I ain't goin' back to Detroit. That's for damn sure. Shit. You can bet your ass I'm a good DJ.
