Black Adder, Black Adder, with many a cunning plan

(It’s been a long, long time since I wrote a drama review. It’s mainly lazy, and then I don’t have the urge to vomit. But occasionally by reminding myself that some of my previous reviews are useful to others, I feel like communicating through time and space, so I don’t remember who recommended it. I saw a post on Tucao blackadder about Tucao magic, so I found this 80s drama in station B. I have some inexplicable favor with the stories in the western historical background, coupled with the deliberately crafted squeaky style in the first season, it is natural to watch the 6*4 episodes of "doujin" stories (with the same name and the same actors in different backgrounds). As a related tidbit said, the difference between the first season and the next three seasons of blackadder is a bit big: in the first season, his personality is too rich, with multiple characteristics such as wretchedness, cowardice, cleverness, and conceit, making people overwhelmed. In the next three seasons, his personality is more uniform, that is, the blackadderish tone: calculating, condescending, cunning & charming (These adjectives are far from being able to summarize the meaning represented by "blackadderish"). My subjective evaluation of these four seasons is: S4> S1 = S3> S2, but it seems that the creators think that S2 is very successful, at least better than the first season, so there can be a follow-up 3-4. What I like most about the fourth season is that on the one hand, I have the feelings of the first three seasons, and my feelings for the characters in the play are getting deeper and deeper; on the other hand, I think there are a lot of funny places in this season, and there are slightly fewer jokes that I can’t understand. Coupled with the handsome uniforms, they all add a lot to this season. Such as the second episode of corporal punishment, captain B refused to accept the frontline/death notice sent by Darling by various means, killed the general love pigeon, and the letter of request for help was destroyed by Baldrick without any suspense, various military courts were stalked, and the execution soldiers were mocked. Finally, Nine deaths. It is worthy of the Best Laughing Fruit Award of this season. The longest distance between Georgina and Melchett in the third episode-I love you, but you can’t recognize your beloved chipmunk (Hugh's women's clothing!), and Bob (the love who almost married B in the second season Melchett blamed her for her temporary rescue, and Chaplin secretly retaliated against her. The return of flash in the fourth episode (the second season took away the beauty who almost married B), and the brutal punishment of the German army-to teach the nuns home economics class, are both hilarious. The constant theme of the entire 6 episodes is that B tried all kinds of ways to escape the battlefield, George made all kinds of stupidity, Baldrick carried out his cuteness, Darling was a villain, but in the sixth episode at the end, a total of cannon fodder was annihilated. Isn't it a sudden rise from vulgarity to anti-war? The first season is really eye-catching. Although B's personality is too diverse, the first four episodes still make people love it. It’s just that episodes 5-6 are a bit incomprehensible. I don’t know what the screenwriters are doing. It’s better not to shoot these two episodes. Of course, if you don’t shoot, you will lose the two stalks that appear every season: imprisonment and all staff. Die Alice (not always die, but the last episode will always be a shocking death). Because of the drastic changes in the style of the second season, I really didn't like it at the beginning. But this season has one of my favorite episodes of the whole series, Chains, where Hugh kidnapped B and Melchett and accused the two of their unknown dark history. That sentence Barrrr blacked Melchett for three seasons! I don't catch Queenie very much, although the screenwriter and director are full of praise for the actor's performance. In the third season, Hugh became the protagonist Prince George, the most stupid noble in history, and Baldrick can be described as double stupid. The first episode of black political elections, the second episode of compiling a dictionary, the third episode of the Black French Revolution, the fourth episode of Macbeth's spell, the fifth episode of blind marriage and the thief, and the sixth episode of the fort duel are all impressive. After the four seasons, the theme melody of blackadder is lingering in my mind, Good folk, lock up your son and daughter,

Blackadder Goes Forth quotes

  • Lieutenant George: But this is brave, splendid and noble...

    [Blackadder doesn't react - there's a long pause]

    Lieutenant George: ...Sir

    Captain Blackadder: Yes, Lieutenant.

    Lieutenant George: I'm scared, sir

Private Baldrick: I'm scared too, sir

Lieutenant George: I'm the last of the tiddly-winking leapfroggers from the golden summer of 1914. I don't want to die... I'm really not over keen on dying at all, sir.

Captain Blackadder: How are you feeling, Darling?

Captain Darling: Ahm- not all that good, Blackadder. Rather hoped I'd get through the whole show, go back to work at Pratt and Sons, keep wicket for the Croydon Gentlemen, marry Doris. Made a note in my diary on the way here. Simply says: "Bugger".

    Captain Blackadder: Well, quite.

[Outside: "Stand to, stand to, fix bayonets"]

Captain Blackadder: Come on, come on, let's move.

[at the door, Blackadder turns to George]

Captain Blackadder: Don't forget your stick Lieutenant

Lieutenant George: Rather, sir. Wouldn't want to face a machine gun without this.

[they walk into the misty trench, waiting for the off - suddenly there is silence - the machine guns stop]

Captain Darling: I say, listen - our guns have stopped.

    Lieutenant George: You don't think...

Private Baldrick: Perhaps the war's over. Perhaps it's peace.

Captain Darling: Thank God. We lived through it. The Great War, 1914 to 1917.

Captain DarlingPrivate BaldrickLieutenant George: Hip hip hooray!

Captain Blackadder: I'm afraid not. The guns have stopped because we are about to attack. Not even our generals are mad enough to shell their own men. They feel it's more sporting to let the Germans do it.

Lieutenant George: So, we are, in fact, going over. This is, as they say, it?

Captain Blackadder: Yes, unless I can think of something very quickly.

[a voice shouts 'Company, one pace forward.' They all step forward]

Private Baldrick: There's a nasty splinter on that ladder, sir. A bloke could hurt himself on that.

[another call: "Stand ready" - they put their hands on the ladders ready to climb]

Private Baldrick: I have a plan, sir.

Captain Blackadder: Really Baldrick? A cunning and subtle one?

    Private Baldrick: Yes, sir.

Captain Blackadder: As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University?

    Private Baldrick: Yes, sir.

[another call: "On the signal, Company will advance"]

Captain Blackadder: Well, I'm afraid it's too late. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was better than my plan to get out of here by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?

[a whistle blows he looks at Baldrick]

    Captain Blackadder: Good luck, everyone.

[Blackadder blows his whistle, there is a roar of voices as everyone leaps up the ladders, meeting the machine gun fire]

  • [repeated line]

Private Baldrick: I have a cunning plan.
