1 Player training
There are two points here:
Players are trained from high school graduation, unlike basketball that allows you to go to college. So Bill gave up Stanford. American baseball is a traditional sport and there are no girls. After high school, scouts choose boys with good athletic physique to train into professional players. This kind of thinking comes down the same line. Starting from Athens, everyone has agreed that someone who is tall and fit, runs fast and has high strength, is a good seed player. So they started talking about whose girlfriend is hot, which also shows that the players are confident and can be favored by the team. This is why Bill can be selected, but in fact, it turns out that he is not suitable for this sport, so he was very depressed. At the end, he said that the only time he chose to be influenced by money was to give up Stanford, regretting it. So he later resolutely opposed this view of the player's potential.

Another point is a very real problem. How to recruit strong players for poor teams? The rule here is that teams that train new players can directly sign the agreement of the first six years, and the salary is very low starting from the unknown. So the team can find players with good potential. But the problem here is that once they become famous, after six years, good players choose high salaries and leave the team. This was Bill's problem at the beginning.

2
The basic of the labor contract model is that a team can only have 25 formal players.
Assuming a five-year contract with A, then the team must fulfill the terms of the contract. If 5 million points are no less. But A's performance is too bad and wants to be kicked out, so he can replace with other teams. Like that old black guy was originally on the Yankees, 7 million, but he was too old, and Bill was willing to ask for it. The Yankees were very happy, and discussed with Bill about half of the 7 million players in the old black.
Because a team has only 25 full members, but there can be a second-tier team with alternates or newcomers, and the money is very small. When Bill drew someone from another team, he switched to his second-tier player. Then his main force has 26, so he was demoted to one person, and the money in the contract was paid, but there was no guarantee after that, which was equivalent to being fired.

3 Industry reform
Bill can only change it, because of his own experience, he doesn't believe in the old one. Those with old experience are very worried about their jobs. This kind of inertia gives rookies a chance to occupy the market, which is why my host, AOL, is currently like a dung. The other reason is that there is really no money.
Talk about the fat guy, the real person is thin, tall and graduated from Stanford. Statistics serve sports management, he is not the first, but by chance, Bill was able to convince and implement it. I have a buddy who is still studying for a master's degree in statistical sports in the United States. Fatty later worked as a manager for the Los Angeles Dodge team. But even though they are newcomers, they are also impressed by the familiarity of the business. So the opportunity is only for those who are prepared, don't complain, be prepared.
The Boston Red Socks won the championship after comprehending their skills. And Bill is not bad, he also has a stake in t, and his team also has his share. His big offer is actually the accumulated money for four or five years. If the movie doesn't make it clear, everyone will be excited if the money is too much. He is mainly reluctant to give up his daughter. This is difficult for the Chinese to understand. The family is the most important thing in a person's life. The two places can't be accompanied by three or five years of good times, leaving only regrets and resentments.

Moneyball quotes

  • Grady Fuson: Artie, who do you like?

Scout Artie: I like Perez. He's got a classy swing; its a real clean stroke.

Scout Barry: He can't hit a curve ball.

Scout Artie: Yeah, there's some work to be done, I'll admit that.

    Scout Barry: Yeah, there is.

Scout Artie: But he is noticeable.

Matt Keough: And an ugly girlfriend.

Scout Barry: What does that mean?

Matt Keough: Ugly girlfriend means no confidence.

    Scout Barry: OK.

[Beane buries his head in hands out of frustration with the conversation]

John Poloni: Now you guys are full of it. Artie's right. This guy's got an attitude and an attitude is good. I mean it's the kind of guy who walks into a room and his dick has already been there for two minutes.

Phil Pote: He passes the eye candy test. He's got the looks. He's great at playing the part. He just needs to get some playing time.

Matt Keough: I'm just saying his girlfriend is a 6 at best.

  • Peter Brand: It's about getting things down to one number. Using stats to reread them, we'll find the value of players that nobody else can see. People are over looked for a variety of biased reasons and perceived flaws. Age, appearance, personality. Bill James and mathematics cuts straight through that. Billy, of the twenty thousand knowable players for us to consider, I believe that there is a championship team of twenty five people that we can afford. Because everyone else in baseball under values them. Like an island of misfit toys.
