I am worried about my children

In 1996, my family bought a cow to eat. The weight of the cow was 840 catties and the price was 3,500 yuan. The age of the cow was 20 years old. It takes 14 hours to cook seven catties of beef.

In 2009, the same cow. The weight of the cow is 850 jin, the price is 4,000 yuan, and the age of the cow is 2 years old. It only took 3 hours and 20 minutes to cook seven catties of beef.

In 20 years, we have eaten different things.

I was born in 1980, and we don’t know how precious a pile of vegetables and 50 cents of meat are on the market.

In 2002, when I first discovered that I could not afford organic vegetables and wild meat in the supermarket, I discovered how far the quality of the food I ate every day was compared to 20 years ago.

The American boss in the company told us that China is now the United States seven or eight years ago.

So seven or eight years later, when my child may have just been standing in front of the fruit stand in the supermarket looking for delicious fruits. And it was like FOOD, inc said at that time. Coca-Cola is only 1-2 yuan, a fast food is only 8-10 yuan, and a catty of Chinese cabbage costs 5-10 yuan. State-owned enterprises or private enterprises with a prince’s part background own all food production and sales. We can only stand there and choose a few foods that we can buy. The urban management no longer has to chase the hawkers, because no one grows vegetables in their own vegetable plots, and the hawkers have no vegetables to sell.

I don't know what I should cherish, or what I need to do to change China's FOOD, inc. After a few years,

my grandfather joined the Chinese Communist Party at about 20 years old and fought the Anti-Japanese War until the civil war and the national liberation. I think that when the grandfathers participated in the war, they wanted to change the situation of future generations.

And I, now, can't do anything.

  • Title card: SB-63 passed the State Legislature. But Governor Schwarzenegger then vetoed it.

Eric Schlosser: These companies fight, tooth and nail, against labeling. The fast food industry fought against giving you the calorie information. They fought against telling you if there is trans-fat in your food. The meat packing idustry for years prevented country-of-origin labeling. They fought not to label genetically modified foods; and now 70% of processed food in the supermarket has some genetically modified ingredient.

  • Eric Schlosser: These companies have legions of attorneys. And they may sue, even if they know they can't win, just to send a message.
