"A Generation of Superstar Sanjay Jun": Sex, Drugs, Terrorism ---The Legend of Indian Film Star Sanjaydat

I have watched many low-level Indian movies. They focus on the abject poverty in India and show their backward living conditions on the screen, so that the audience can understand what feudalism and ignorance are. However, I often wonder, apart from the bottom people, what kind of life does the urban population in India have? Will their thinking and behavior be different?

The following movie gave me some answers.

This is the fourth unpopular movie I want to recommend: "A Generation of Superstar Sang Jiejun". It is not very popular in China, but I was surprised after watching it. This is another excellent movie.

When it comes to biopics, many people think of Martin Scorsese, most of his films fall into this category. He is good at telling the legendary journey of the characters. "Good Guy", "Angry Bull", "Aviator", "Wolf of Wall Street", etc. are all classics among them. The movie "A Generation of Superstar Sang Jiejun" has the style of director Martin. It focuses the camera on the Indian urban crowd and tells the ups and downs of the Indian film star Sang Jie Dart.

Sangjie Dart was born into a famous family. His father Sunil Dart and mother Nargis were both famous movie stars in the past. Although they are now in the second line, they have close relationships with many politicians and still enjoy a high social status. In India, where the caste ideology is deeply rooted, Sang Jie’s birth is naturally more fortunate than most of his peers. Because of this, his father is extremely strict with him, and his father hopes that he will redouble his efforts to become a successful actor.

However, the young Sang Jie did not understand his father's painstaking efforts. He lived a superior life and could not empathize with poverty and suffering. The light of his parents only made him feel dazzling. Sometimes he felt that he was working hard, but his father was always stingy to praise him, which made him feel disappointed.

Sang Festival is still very talented in acting, and his father's little guidance can make him perform supernormally. If he doesn't make detours, his acting career will be a smooth one. However, the ups and downs are the norm in life, and soon he will experience the first trough of life.

There is a person who often appears on the scene of the Sang Festival, he took the initiative to talk about the Sang Festival, and the two became familiar with each other. This person's name is Zu Bin, who is a drug dealer. Zu Bin took Sang Jie to a bar to hang out with a group of fox and dog friends, and induced Sang Jie to take drugs together, but he smoked grape powder. After Sang Jie became addicted to drugs, Zu Bin continued to provide him with various drugs and made a lot of money.

Because of the drug addiction, Sang Jie and a friend went to his girlfriend Ruby's house late at night and did some absurd things, which caused the Ruby family to be completely disappointed in him. If this continues, Sang Jie's love and career will almost cool down. However, at this time he met a close friend in his life and asked him to rein in the cliff.

Sang Jie's mother had cancer and needed to go to New York for treatment, and Sang Jie also went there. Sang Jie didn't stay by his mother's side all the time, but secretly inhaled the heroin he brought from India in the corner of the hospital. Camli is a loyal fan of Sang Jie's parents. After learning that Sang Jie's mother came to New York for treatment, he personally rushed to the hospital to see him and met Sang Jie. Kamri’s character is honest and friendly, he belongs to the person who is shy when he sees a girl, but he is kind and pure, and he is worthy of socializing. After seeing Sang Jie taking drugs, he couldn't bear it, so he persuaded Sang Jie to stay away from drugs, and Sang Jie promised not to take drugs again.

After returning to India, Sang Jie went to Ruby's house, apologized for the absurd behavior last time, and tried to save the love. What he didn't know was that Ruby had already signed a marriage contract with a doctor from New York. Ruby's father drove Sang Jie out and yelled at him.

Sang Jie was heartbroken and started taking drugs again. After hearing that Sang Jie was in depression, Kamri used the money originally used to buy a car and bought a plane ticket from New York to India in an attempt to save Sang Jie. Camri found Ruby and tried to persuade him patiently, finally letting Ruby change her mind. Unexpectedly, Sang Jie didn't know Ruby's change of heart. The next day Ruby waited for Sang Jie in the Civil Affairs Bureau for a long time. At that time, Sang Jie was taking drugs at home. Ruby gave up completely when she learned about it. Afterwards, Sang Jie regretted it.

After experiencing tremendous pain and torture, Sang Jie finally gave up his drug addiction and restarted his acting career. After reviving, Sang Festival burst into new vitality in his acting career. He has participated in several classic movies in succession. At the same time, the friendship between Sang Jie and Kamri is also deeper.

However, such a strong friendship came to an abrupt end because of something. After the peak of Sang Festival's acting career, his father Sunil Dart began to get involved in politics. Thirteen serial bombings occurred in Mumbai in 1993, killing more than two hundred people. Sang Jie was implicated. He was accused of terrorism and put in a detention center. No matter what difficulties Sang Jie encountered in the past, Kamri tried his best to help, but this time he flinched. He knew how serious the accusation was, and he didn't want to be implicated. He categorically flew back to the United States and broke off the contact with Sang Jie. Camry did not ask any more questions until Sang Jie was imprisoned.

The above is the general plot of the whole movie. The whole movie is not particularly stunning, but it is still an excellent biographical film. First of all, it has a lively rhythm, two and a half hours basically tells the story of Sang Jie's more than ten years of life. We can also learn about some Indian cultural customs, such as India's control of alcohol.

There are frequent cases of fake alcohol in India, often with hundreds of deaths. India has strict controls on alcohol. The price of alcohol is expensive. It is difficult for ordinary people to enjoy high-end alcohol. Some people at the bottom have to take risks to buy fake alcohol. The reason why Sang Jie lost Ruby was because he knocked on Ruby's door late at night and begged Ruby's father to allow him to take two bottles of good wine.

The movie also shows the class characteristics of India. From time to time, I will hear some English in their conversations. I have checked some information before and I know that this is the way people of higher classes in India speak.

The film also reflects the religious contradictions in India. After the Mumbai serial bombings in 1993, the relationship between Hinduism and Muslims became incompatible. After Sang Jie's father Sunil Dart entered politics, he hoped to eliminate religious prejudice, so he has been reconciling the contradictions between the two groups. He often visits Muslims and sends them supplies, which naturally arouses the dissatisfaction of Hindus. Sunildart receives four or five death threat calls every day, but he is not afraid and still sticks to his own ideas. Of course, this eventually led to Sang Jie being implicated and imprisoned.

The friendship between Sanjie and Kamri in the movie moved me. Kamri is indeed a rare friend, and whenever Sang Jie is in trouble, he always helps without hesitation. He works in New York, but can often fly to India for the Sang Festival. When I watched "Gangster Rap Legend" before, I was moved by the friendship of black brothers. The protagonist was arrested with his friend for carrying a gun. His friend decided to help him with the crime. The friend felt that he was a repeat offender and was sentenced to two or three years at most. However, the protagonist has no criminal record and his rap career has just started. You can't miss success because of this.

The father-son relationship between Sang Jie and his father Sunil Dart is also the focus of the film's portrayal. Father Sunil Dart is an upright and hardworking man, and he has strict requirements for himself and his son. This reminds me of Cai Meier, the author of "Battle Hymn of Tiger Mother", but Sunildart did not get as good results as Cai Meier. Instead, Sang Jie became more rebellious and embarked on a road that completely deviated from his expectations. After Sang Jie became addicted to drugs, Kamri and Sang Jie's father had a sincere conversation. His father finally realized that his treatment of Sang Jie was improper, and then he started to improve his father-son relationship.

After quitting drug addiction, Sang Jie's career progressed smoothly, but his father and the Muslims were very close, which made Sang Jie feel anxious. For the safety of his family, Sang Jie bought an ak47 privately and kept it at home just in case. But this incident was exposed, and he was imprisoned on suspicion of terrorism. During the years he was detained, his father had been running around, looking for various relationships, hoping to help Sang Jie get rid of crime. However, the wall fell and everyone pushed, and those politicians shunned it for fear of being implicated. Despite this, his father never gave up hope. He hoped that Sang Festival would not sink because of this, but he had to believe that hope would definitely come.

In the end, Sang Jie was not charged with terrorism, but was sentenced to five years in prison for illegally holding a gun. Although the court gave a fair judgment, public opinion was not so tolerant. They turned a blind eye to the judgment. Instead, they continued various subjective speculations and exaggerated the facts to attract attention. Sangjie hoped that his father could see his innocence with his own eyes, but unfortunately, his father did not wait for that day after all. Until the death of his father, Sang Jie did not remove the stigma of terrorists.

The main plots of some movies are mentioned above, but the essence and interesting details can only be experienced by watching the movie by yourself. From this movie, I can get a glimpse of the culture of the upper class in India and some religious contradictions in India. In short, if you want to learn about India, this movie is not to be missed.
