Lorraine (Ellen Barkin) is an unfortunate single mother. She took her son Toby (Leonardo DiCaprio) to leave her violent boyfriend. Different cities just make money to support their families. In Seattle, Caroline met truck driver Dwight (Robert De Niro), in Dwight, she found the feeling of long-lost love. Soon, Caroline married Dwight and moved to a small town named Comfort Ford, where it seemed that a new and wonderful life was about to unfold.
