This review involves spoilers~
First of all, from the plot point of view, it is a very old-fashioned American thriller and disaster film, and it is a shark theme often used in American movies. However, the details of this film are still very good, from the feel, it is similar to the previous very popular "Shark Beach".
Secondly, from the perspective of logic and human performance, compared with the embarrassing performance of many characters in domestic disaster films, the performance of these two heroines is very in line with personality and performance under some adversities. Kate's personality is a free and easy adventurous fanatic, Lisa's personality is a more discreet home-type. At the beginning of the death, Lisa was very nervous. Kate took on the responsibility of comforting the sisters, removing obstacles, and venturing out of the cage to contact the ships above, while Lisa just stayed in the cage in fear. . . However, it must be boring for the film to continue like this. Soon Kate lacks oxygen due to a lot of activities, and Lisa can only take over the task of finding the light in the distance. The plot begins to turn here.
I have to mention that most of the heroic roles in European and American movies seem to be timid and unconfident at first, but later they can exert tremendous energy to shoulder greater responsibilities. Lisa seems to be this role in this film. The whole story begins here, and Lisa is forced to take the first brave step.
At the beginning, Lisa cried and said to Kate that she was abandoned by her boyfriend because her boyfriend said she was boring. Lisa's cautious and reserved personality can be drawn from the film. However, in the face of life and death, she had to face the endless darkness and sharks that appeared at any time, out of the cage to find the person who dived to rescue them. After getting out of the cage, Lisa was always scared. Not long after swimming out, a huge shark attacked her. She instinctively escaped into the rock and escaped the shark. It can be seen that the attack not only didn't frighten her, maybe she thought in her heart, that's it! In many cases, people are not defeated by reality, but by the fear in their hearts. Once experienced and overcome, they will become very brave. Later Lisa quickly walked out of the rock pile, and then actually walked to a cliff, where the darkness can't be seen to the end, and the light is not far away.
I was very afraid of water. As soon as I saw this scene, I was scared in my heart. Subconsciously, I didn’t want to continue swimming in the past. However, Lisa was obviously the one who overcame fear and became strong. She plucked up the courage to swim in the past and experienced Hardship brought the rescuer's rope back to the cage (the rescuer was killed by the shark).
The last point is also the highlight of the film and the deep exploration of human nature. The rope was taken, the cage was pulled back in half, but it broke again, and the cage fell again. This time it was even more dangerous. Lisa was stuck in a cage with one leg, and the oxygen of both people bottomed out. Kate had to contact the ship on the sea to put down the two oxygen tanks again, and Taylor (the captain) on the sea reminded the two people that the reason why they did not give the oxygen tanks earlier was because there was a great risk that people would have hallucinations of nitrogen anesthesia (here It is a foreshadowing).
In the second foreshadowing, the two sisters are holding the oxygen tank in the cage. Lisa speaks out her heart. Although the two are sisters, Kate has been free and unruly and loved freedom since she was a child, and everyone is envious of it, but Lisa is just nobody. The only thing better than Kate is to have a "good boyfriend." From this we can see that Lisa is unwilling. In real life, she should have a little bit of sympathy with her friends, classmates and relatives. She still wants to surpass "that person" in her heart, even in one aspect.
Kate got out of the cage to get an oxygen tank. When she was approaching the cage, she was attacked by a shark and disappeared. Lisa was hoarse, but there was no news, and her own oxygen was about to run out. Lisa was unwilling to wait for death. Although one leg was pinched, she still used the barb of the speargun to replace the oxygen tank not far away with oxygen, and then waited for rescue.
Unexpectedly, Lisa heard Kate's call for help soon. It turned out that she was not dead, but was trapped in a rock pile, and she was seriously injured and confused.
Lisa heard the voice, as if she was beaten up: originally thought that Kate was going to die, but now she has rekindled hope. She cleverly used the life jacket to inflate the cage a bit higher, and desperately pulled her legs out, leaving deep blood marks. Then she found Kate. In order to save her, Lisa took Kate to the surface regardless of the danger of being beaten by the sharks. In order to prevent decompression sickness, she slowed down at 30 meters and stayed at 20 meters for 5 minutes, surrounded by signal sticks. Sharks fighting around. Eventually the signal bar was used up, Lisa took off the diving equipment of the two people and quickly floated up. When he was about to be rescued, a huge shark bit Lisa's injured leg and dragged it into the sea. However, Lisa was already like the goddess of war at this time, she was not afraid at all, she directly squeezed the shark's eyes with both hands, the shark loosened it after eating pain, and Lisa took the opportunity to return to the sea.
The two were rescued. Lisa's legs were bloody, but she still smiled, and she smiled happily when she looked at her scratched hand while holding the oxygen tank.
If the film ends here, it is actually a very good film, but unfortunately the previous foreshadowing is useless, and it loses the exploration of some inner things of the characters.
Just when I thought the protagonist was rescued, everything in front of Lisa seemed to be blurred, and Taylor's noise appeared in her ears. It turned out that Lisa had been in a hallucination since she was replaced with a new oxygen tank. Witnessing the excitement of Kate's death, and the obsession to break her original character, let her create an illusion of rescuing Kate from fighting a shark.
The coast guard had arrived, and Lisa was smiling in a cage on the sea floor, and kept saying "We did Kate."
Kate was not seen in the figure returning from the rescue.
Originally, Lisa came to the sisters to resolve the depression in her heart. It is obvious that her previous depression has been resolved, and she will be more courageous in her future life. I just don't know when the frustration of losing her good sister Kate will be resolved.
Maybe this is life!
