Accept your destiny

This film is a very classic movie about time travel. This kind of movie must have a heavy suspense element, and it will be spoiled if you say too much, but you can't make it clear if you don't have spoilers. Therefore, my short essay is divided into two parts. The first half is not spoiled and will attract you to watch this movie. In the second half, I will remind you that the spoiler starts below, and that is the part you will come back to after watching this movie.

The color of the film is dark and messy, and the atmosphere is like this. And the first two thirds of the clues are numerous and chaotic, making people confused. The last 1/3 connected the multi-head clues with some mysterious shots and uncovered the answers one by one, which made people feel quite enlightened. From beginning to end, until the end, the film did not let me take a breath. Although there were no fierce fights, and no horrible and bloody scenes, the audience was bothered to watch it through. This is the skill of the director.

The film has three protagonists, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, and Madeleine Stowe. Bruce Willis played his true character, power type, reckless type, low IQ, unconscious, and even unable to distinguish between reality and illusion. Brad Pitt's semi-crazy people are very good, and like "Fight Club", his performance in this film is also very exciting, attracting a lot of attention. The heroine is not very familiar with it.

The shell of this film is pretty clichéd. In 1996, 5 billion people died from the deadly virus, and only a few survived. The surviving humans were forced to live underground. In 2035, scientists sent prisoner James (Bruce Willis) back to 1996 to investigate the source of the virus. The only clue was the mysterious "12 Monkey Army". But he mistakenly went to 1990 and was treated as a lunatic in a mental hospital. There I met the crazy Jeffery and the psychologist Kathryn. He didn't know that his words and deeds are one of the causes of the destiny of mankind...

The spoilers are beginning to follow! Those who haven't watched this movie will stop here and come back after watching the movie.

In 1990, James from the future inadvertently told the crazy Jeffery that humans should be wiped out by the virus, but he unexpectedly inspired Jeffery. Jeffery was the leader of the 12 Monkey Army in 1996. A person from a tragic future trying to change history is the cause of the tragic history! In fact, the main theme of the film is that no matter how time travels through time and space, history will never change. People who travel through time and space are precisely the important factors that make history. From beginning to end, this factor is implemented. Therefore, the protagonist will find that many future "precious clues" are left by traveling back to the past by himself. Quite ironically. Later, there was a copy of the work "Time and Space Clues," starring Denzel Washington, which also adhered to this principle, but the film did not adhere to the end and was reunited in the end. And "12 Monkeys" ended in a shuddering way, making people stunned, that's it? Nothing has changed... But returning from a futuristic man is the element of unfortunate history.

Moving back and forth between different time and space, James was in a daze. He was very nostalgic for living on the ground, breathing fresh air. He even began to believe in the words of the psychiatrist, that he is really schizophrenic, and his mission from the future is really his own illusion... This is the very creative aspect of this film. Imagine if you can also travel between time and space with huge contrast, you will definitely feel this kind of confusion. In "The Matrix", there are also such characters who would rather let yourself be intoxicated in beautiful dreams.

Another clever feature of this film is the mysterious "12 Monkey Army". This mysterious organization and mysterious totem shrouds the audience's heart like a cloud. The audience's tense heart is firmly tied to the "12 Monkeys". superior. Where do I know, in fact, the "12 monkeys" have nothing to do with the release of the virus. The unveiling of this suspense is shocking and ironic, because James deeply blames himself for inspiring Jeffery to establish the "12 Monkeys", and he is the chief culprit for the destruction of mankind. Sometimes people just take their own role too seriously, in fact, you are only a member of the earth, and any of your efforts are carried out in accordance with the established destiny.

The weird shooting shot at the beginning of the film is also interspersed many times in the film. This segment is the main mystery that plagues the audience. When the last 1/3 organized clues to reveal the truth, the mystery was gradually solved. There are about 20 minutes until the end of the film, and I fully understand what is going on. This scene is a clue that makes a lot of strange lines and plots clear. It turned out that the beginning was the ending. James Jr. witnessed his adulthood from the future being shot. Very interesting plot.

As mentioned above, James and Kathlyn tried to change history and organize the release of the virus. They don't understand that history will not change, and everything they do is to facilitate the occurrence of the established destiny. Future scientists understood this, so the task they gave James was to trace the source of the virus and did not stop it. After finding the source, at the end, the scientist himself went out and brought the virus sample back to 2035 for research in 1996. It turns out that all these actions are not to change history, nor to prevent the deaths of 5 billion people. All these are just to obtain samples of the source of the virus. Fortunately, there are new advances in virus prevention and control after 2035... This is quite secretive, and finally In one scene, the culprit of the virus is sitting with a scientist from the future --- the scientist must be 2035, not 1996, as you can tell from the age of appearance. At this time, smart viewers will understand what the real ending is.

The idea of this film began with a short film "Dyke" by the screenwriter Chris Mark as early as 1962, which described the plot of seeing himself dying in front of him from the future. This idea inspired many films. The most famous is the "Terminator" series.
