Episode 2: The most terrifying scene is the record made by the assistant at the end

When I just finished reading it, I felt that it didn’t make sense, that my girlfriend suddenly appeared to expose the conspiracy of the technology company and confess the embezzlement of the bank card. But after thinking about it carefully, and after understanding the logic, I found that the last sentence written by the assistant was the most terrifying finishing touch.

For this "game" principle, my understanding of the scene is constructed based on the memory that already exists in the male protagonist's brain. If the girlfriend really investigated the situation of the technology company, this information does not exist in the male protagonist's mind. That means that the words his girlfriend said are not facts, but procedurally generated. If you think about it this way, then this program is to step up the male lead's sense of fear, and the straights will never stop being feared to death. Then the logic of the program should be like this: The

first level of horror: The little spider
may have memories from when he was a child, or it may be a movie watched on an airplane. All in all, the first temptation of the program starts with the lowest level of fear. And he "stomped to death" the spider a few times, which meant that this level of fear test was over. Fear escalated.

Level 2: Anti-common sense phenomenon + high school villain
First, the picture is moving, and the classmates who have bullied themselves suddenly appear, but they just stand still. This sense of fear is already much stronger than that of little spiders.

The third level: the first two levels of element fusion The
first three levels are basically to infinitely enlarge the painful memories of the past. At this level, the program is still constructing fear based on the information stored in the brain. Just staying on the visual level, rather than deep stimulation, is not creating fear.

The fourth level: Disintegration of the trust system + the first three elements
This is the first time the program creates new fears. The appearance of his girlfriend brings two important messages. One is that the game company is unreliable, and the other is that they have embezzled bank cards. There should be a memory of taking a photo and sending a short message to his girlfriend in the memory of the male protagonist. The male protagonist secretly photographed and sent a message to his girlfriend. At that moment, his girlfriend was the most trusted person of the male protagonist. And he can travel around the world alone for so long, and there are probably only a handful of people close to him. If betrayed by his girlfriend, it can be said that he lost the only person who could be close to him at the time. Thinking about it, I'm still scared. Telling him that the game company was deceiving people, disintegrating his trust in this test, is to upgrade again the foreshadowing. Of course, in order to increase the sense of fear, the program still reproduces some elements of the previous levels based on memory. Psychological + sensory dual stimulation. Note that the game company assistant keeps asking what happened to the male protagonist. And emphasize that they can't do it with the senses, and some things are impossible to happen. Moreover, according to the monitoring screen, the assistant had no idea what the male lead had experienced, and could only listen to the male lead's description afterwards.

The fifth level: Fear but can't escape the fear
. The upper level has made him lose his trust in the game company. So he doubted his assistant's instructions every step of the way to the access point. When you feel fear, avoidance is a good solution. The program deliberately arranges a dead end, which is purely psychological fear, without sensory stimulation. The straight male protagonist began to doubt his life and his own existence.

Level 6: "Reality"
No matter what happens in the male protagonist's home, it must be something that makes the male protagonist feel timid to face it. He is urged to travel the world and avoid mother's call. Corresponding to the higher level, and can't avoid being afraid, nothing is more scary than this.

Level 7: No one knows what happened. The learning ability of the machine far exceeds the human cognitive system.
Why do I think the explanation given by the assistant is the most terrifying. Remember the assistant kept asking the hero what he saw? It's because the testers of the game company have no idea what kind of screen the computer shows to the male protagonist. The only way for them to collect information is to communicate with the subject after the test. When a program takes 0.04 seconds to destroy a person's value system through deep learning and kills it, but we who design and observe the program don't know what it does. Doesn't this make people spine chill?

For machine learning and artificial intelligence, I agree with some pessimists. When artificial intelligence emerges, human civilization may begin to be destroyed. Because humans have and only have one chance to invent a machine that is smarter than themselves, then this machine will begin to dominate humans. This moral is also mentioned in this episode. When the male lead enters the haunted house, the female assistant said that the fear will continue to escalate, until you think you can't bear it. "Unbearable" is a very subjective judgment, even if the subject feels it is stimulating enough, it can be over. But it does not mean that this is the limit of his endurance, nor does it mean that the game program has found the best point of excitement. Once the program's intelligence reaches this level, it will actively go out of the set boundary to find the optimal solution. Unfortunately, this process is learned from the program and cannot be directly controlled by the staff. So the tragedy happened, but the game company can only observe and record the tester's words like an outsider, and finish the work hastily. The development of science and technology brings fear of the future.

Why bother to shoot so much? It's good to concentrate on shooting three high-quality episodes. This season, the good and the bad are mixed, and Black Mirror has become an American drama.
