In addition to maintaining a consistent standard for the taste of music, in this movie, there is no shadow of Joe White before. To be honest, the biggest feeling after watching "Soloist" is disappointment. For such a true story that touches thousands of column readers, why is there not much moving thing in the movie?
From beginning to end, we only saw a black man who was obsessed with music. Such a superficial story itself does not have much legendary worthy of a big book, I really want to know how Lopez's column was written back then. The screenwriter was shamelessly inspiring the story, Joe White took American money and tried his best to make the film meet the aesthetic taste of Hollywood. When Ayers finally said to his sister "There is hope in life" for no reason, I want to beat something.
On the contrary, the other line of this movie is much more realistic, which may also be related to my own journalist career. After Lopez wrote the story of Ayers for a year, he was panicked about his infinite involvement in each other's lives, especially when Ayers regarded him as his only friend, or even God.
Here, we can see two very different emotions stuck on Lopez. This stalemate also appears repeatedly in every feature reporter: how do you treat your interviewee? Lopez approached Ayers with utilitarianism-looking for an appropriate story for his column, so when he ran his own page, he did not hesitate to take care of Ayers. Of course, it also includes establishing a spiritual connection with Ayers.
But when Ayers pinned his hopes of life on Lopez, he began to reflect on the relationship between the two: Do I need to be Ayers' only friend? This is a way of working that many reporters choose, including myself. The job of a reporter is to get one story after another and make it public. Seniors in many industries have said: For your interviewee, the last thing you can't say is "I can help you", because you are just a reporter and you can't help him.
The latter part of the film finally brought out Lopez's confusion. Because when he was visiting a place for an interview, there was an earthquake there, and he felt his own powerlessness. So Lopez's girlfriend told him: You can't stop the earthquake, and you can't help Ayers. The design of this plot is actually very hasty. Although I can understand what the director is talking about, it is really not clever enough.
The final result is that Lopez no longer works hard for Ayers to regain his music, he just became his ordinary friend, instead of forcing himself to be a god. What the narrator is saying here is: In medicine, when a person gets along with a friend, subtle chemical changes occur in his brain, which improves his communication. The meaning of this sentence is actually to make a round for Lopez.
There is only one really moving scene in this movie. When Ayers got the cello again after many years, he closed his eyes and played a melodious song. In the camera, two pigeons soaring freely in the sky, the kind of display of talent that can be displayed wantonly, I believe that many small employees who are suffering in their unsatisfactory positions can have a psychological climax once they want.
