Sex is a lie of love, take off the last garment of the soul in the video tape

The film is shot around sex and lies, and the video tape is an intermediary. These three elements reveal the simplest and most complex relationship in human nature. Perhaps this is the reason why this movie still explores the value and charm even today.

There are four main characters in the film: Ann, Ann’s husband John, Ann’s sister Cynthia, and Graham. Everyone is lying to themselves and others, only revealing their true thoughts in the videotape.

Sex and Lies: Sex is a lie of love.
Sexlessness and love: Ann and John’s lie.
Ann is a beautiful woman that men want to get. She married John who she doesn’t love. John can’t be satisfied with Ann. Sister Cynthia has an affair.

Ann lied to herself: I love John and I am loyal. (Ann said to the tape: Whenever I see a man I think is very attractive, I will want to be with him. I wish I would forget that kind of thing!!)

John's lie to himself: When I got Cynthia, I got Ann. After getting Ann, I am a good man.

Sex without love: Cynthia and John's lie
Cynthia has an affair with John, Cynthia has sex with all the men she loves, and she gains a sense of presence in sex, because her sister is so good, she doesn't have much attention compared with her sister.

Cynthia lied to herself: I got the love of all men because they all had sex with me. I am better than my sister, and I own her husband. (Cynthia to the videotape: Do you think I'm beautiful? Bian is more beautiful?)

John's lie to himself: Let Cynthia be sexually satisfied and prove that he is better than other men. (Ann said to the tape: The person who had sex with me before marriage satisfied me more than my husband.)

Sex and videotape:
Graham has a weird habit of intercourse with a camera , masturbating on a videotape, but unable to get an erection when facing a real person. He videotaped many women, asked them to tell about their sexual experiences, recorded them himself, and then masturbated in a private space. Women achieve "being watched and humiliated" through cameras, and Graham achieves "voyeurism" through video tapes. Women masturbate in front of the camera, men masturbate through video tapes, and through the media conversion of "camera-play", the whole process of sexual intercourse is realized without sexual intercourse.

Graham has a strong sense of insecurity about sex, because his girlfriend used to have sex with John, but he would not be hurt if he had sex through video tapes, because he didn't have to give affection, he didn't have to lie or be deceived. This is the safest way. Cynthia asked for another recording but he refused because he couldn't face the woman he had sex with, even through the video recorder, because he let himself "see each other naked" through the video tape.

Graham: When you are with another person, you enter his body, you are so vulnerable, you expose so much without any defense. And...when you are in this...er...naked...state, someone might say or do something to you. They may hurt you, but you don't know anything about it. In a way that even you can't see.

Lies and videotapes: The last piece of clothing
in the soul is the most relaxed and defenseless person in a naked state. He removes all lies and tells his true thoughts to a "tree hole", because a tree hole does not hurt people. If people don't lie in life, they may be hurt by others. Otherwise, why should people wear clothes to cover up? The videotape is the "tree hole", and the objects of Graham's erection are the people in the tree hole. They are real and expose all flaws. People face to face and can be naked, but they may not be frank with each other. Lies are human. The last piece of clothing, only in front of the camera, the woman will take off the last piece of clothing in the soul, in this state of possession, there is no problem.

Ann loves Graham, but Graham is only willing to love her through videotape, so Ann seizes the camera, from the subject to the photographer, Graham finally took off his last in front of the camera As a precaution, he said that he was ashamed because he was also a lie maker. He let others naked in front of the camera, but only because he didn't have the guts to do so.

At the end of the film, the camera and video tape are smashed, and Ann and Graham come together. People always set up barriers in front of love, maybe it's sex, maybe it's a lie, maybe it's a video tape. Excluding these things, we can see the other person's true appearance, fragile and small, just like ourselves.

It is said to be the director's famous work. mais, the man who steals food should divorce him! To the end, almost a character didn't like it. In the end, it was a blessing to the pair.

7 points. The kind that doesn't like it but admits it's good. There was a certain avant-garde in that era. I really like that kind of "Zhengda Theater" style. The furniture display, character modeling and film coloring all have the flavor of that era, and it is very comfortable to look at. It can be regarded as a discussion of the possibility of sex, which is quite touching. That kind of sisterhood is interesting. My sister is very attractive. I don't think Ann and Graham will be happy together either.

Ann: You never used to say the word "fucking."

  • [Accepting John's claim that he's not cheating on her]

Ann: I've just got all this time on my hands, and I just sit around and start inventing these, like, intricate scenarios...

    [giggles]

Ann: And then I don't want to have wasted all my time, so I want to believe in them.
