It was originally adapted from an American novel. No wonder the French taste is not strong, and the characters in it don't have a strong sense of French accent. However, some of the shots are still full of French romantic feelings and are a bit arbitrary, so the length of the film is a bit too long. Some shots are quite exciting and unexpected, such as the bridge where the male protagonist crosses the highway and multiple cars collided. This section is interspersed in the suspense film, adding a bit of comedy color, it can be regarded as unique.
Screenwriter and director Guillaume Canet ("Loyalty", "Two Little No Guess") I really like it. I thought it was him who played the leading role. He actually played such a wretched (but crucial) little supporting role, dizzy... the
male lead François Cluzet and his father played. André Dussollier performed very well. There are also many outstanding French actors who are willing to play supporting roles, such as Nathalie Baye ("Amour", "Venus Beauty Institute") as the lawyer. The actor who plays the male protagonist’s sister is also quite familiar. He originally appeared in "Loyalty" and "Diving Bell and Butterfly". He also won the Caesar Award for Best Actress for "Madame Chatterley's Lover". Marie-Josée Croze, who plays the role of the wife who the protagonist is constantly seeking, is very beautiful and a rising star. The famous British actor Kristin Scott Thomas's French ability is amazing.
The soundtrack uses a lot of old songs, and it seems that there is a movie from 1993, "Philadelphia Story", which feels good.
