Can you be more ambiguous

Korean films can have such a great progress and influence in Asia and the world. In addition to the unique entertainment of their films, directors like Kim Ki-duk have also contributed. The best director award at the film festival is a great affirmation of him.

In my memory, Korean movies are the world of Kim Ki-deok and Park Chan-wook. Except for the old director Lim Kwon-taek, other directors have no impression at all. Park Chan-wook is one of my favorite directors. Kim Ki-duk has only watched "The Samaritan Girl" before. I don’t like it. I watched "Empty Room" this time and I feel better than the previous one.

"Empty Room" gave me the first impression of cleanliness. The picture is elegant, except for the ending part, the composition is very neat, the white boy, and even the prison is very clean. We know that Kim Ki-de is best at expressing lust and violence. These two are the most essential characteristics of human beings. In the previous work "The Samaritan Girl", the girl and the father’s final revenge were naked and bloody, even the father. The final place where the client was killed was in the dirty toilet. Thinking back to the early "Drifting Desire Room", the fish hook was even more vigorous. I don't know if it was a deliberate transformation by Kim Kidd, although it also involved erotic violence in "Empty Room" The original theme of the painting, but it has a lot of convergence in the appearance of the picture. There is no positive pornography, and there are few kisses. The violence is accomplished through the elegant sport of golf, and there is no bloodshed. Therefore, I said that this movie gives me the feeling of cleanliness. On a certain level, this kind of cleanliness is relative. It is a kind of cleanliness compared to Kim Ki-duk’s original works. Such “cleanness” should make his films more appealing. People like it.

In my opinion, the three protagonists in the film are a little bit paranoid. The teenager is paranoid. He could find a good job at his age, but he paranoidly chose to live in an empty house like this, when the police interrogated him. He could have opened his mouth to defend himself, he was silent when he chose to be paranoid, and what he got was a violent beating. Even his love with a woman was a bit paranoid, and the silence of the two was not paranoid. Strength, how can such love last. A woman is paranoid. Under the threat of her husband’s repeated calls, the woman just refuses to answer. This is also a kind of paranoia. A woman could have lived a life of wealth and wealth in this way, but she has a nearly paranoid desire for love. She would get on the boy's motorcycle and walk into the empty rooms with the boy. The husband is also paranoid. He knows that the woman has turned from love to hate him after being abused again and again, but still refuses to let go of her. He even hugs her tightly while sleeping, so that he is afraid that the teenager will come back. Moving, his paranoia is reflected in his almost crazy possessive desire for women. In the end, the three of them lived together under the same roof, and the woman and the teenager were finally able to be together. This ending is not as good as a paranoid victory.

The heroes and heroines in "Empty Room" are silent, which reminds me of Cai Mingliang’s movie, but here Kim Kidd’s performance is a silent effect, and the communication between the teenager and the woman has transcended language. Having reached the spiritual level of communication, all languages in this film are quite pale and weak. Perhaps Kim Kidd is telling us that language is produced later than love, and true love does not need language.

The final surrealist expression of this film is undoubtedly the finishing touch. Whether the teenager has really learned the invisibility technique or has turned into a ghost to communicate with women, no one can tell. The director has left us enough room for reverie. , Judging from the ending, the film is gentle enough. We can treat it as a simple love movie. Although it has not escaped the moral contradiction, in the final analysis, what the director told us is still a third party. In the love story, the real victim is the husband. From this perspective alone, I hope that the relationship between the teenager and the woman can be more ambiguous, more ambiguous, and even beyond this kind of love relationship.

Don't think too much, "Empty Room" is indeed a very good movie, I want to watch "Bow" even more, hope it will be better. It's hard to tell that the world we live in is either a reality or a dream
