Frankenstein
[Introduction]
"Frankenstein" (translated as "Frankenstein" or "Frankenstein") is a British poet Shelley's wife Mary Shelley's creation in 1818 The novel is considered to be the world's first true science fiction novel. "Frankenstein" is the name of the mad scientist in the novel. He spliced many broken corpses into a "person" and activated it with electricity. "Frankenstein" has become a classic in the history of science fiction, and now many fantasy film and television works often appear in replicas of this monster.
[Story] The
protagonist Frankenstein is a scholar engaged in human life science research, and he tries to create life artificially. In his laboratory, through countless explorations, he created an ugly monster with an abominable face. At the beginning, this man-made monster was kind and full of kindness and gratitude to people. He asked his creators and people to give him various rights in life, and even asked to create a spouse for him. However, when he was everywhere disgusted and discriminated by his creators and people, he felt very painful. He hates everything, he wants to destroy everything. He killed Frankenstein's brother William, and he tried to murder Frankenstein's fiancée Elizabeth. Frankenstein pursued the demonic monster he had created with full of anger. Finally, in the fight, Frankenstein and the monster died together.
This book reveals the author's philosophical views. She believes that people have a dual character-good and evil. Long-term hatred, discrimination, and persecution can make people become evil and do all kinds of bad things, even to the point where they are out of control. It also added a new word Frankerstein to the English language, something that eventually ruined its creator.
Frankenstein has become one of Hollywood's classic images.
Content summary
A British ship on an expedition to the North Pole was besieged by ice floes and could not be moved. Captain Walden stood on the side of the ship and looked around, surrounded by an invisible world of ice and snow. Suddenly, he saw a sled pulled by a dog galloping northward about a kilometer away, and an unusually tall figure flashed past.
The next morning, just before dawn, people found a sled parked on a piece of ice floe beside the ship, sitting on it was a person described as dry and freezing. The crew got him on the boat with their hands, wiped him with wine, wrapped him in a blanket, and settled by the fire.
After a while, he woke up, took a sip of hot soup, and slowly shared his experience-his name is Victor Frankens, a professor of biology at a university in London.
He is very interested in the origin of life. After two years of hard work, he created a "person". "He"'s face looked like withered yellow leaves, his two lips were straight and a black line, his eyes were sunken in his eye sockets, his height was 2.5 meters, and he was a big monster. Professor Frankens didn't have a trace of success in his heart, but rather disgusted. He rushed out of the laboratory and returned to the room. However, the monster followed him every step of the way. In the end, he couldn't bear it, and shouted at the monster: "Go!" The monster glanced at him again, with a trace of nostalgia in his eyes, and then turned away.
After half a year, Frankens received a letter from his hometown stating that his son William had been killed. After reading the letter, Frankens hurried back to his hometown in grief.
His wife Elizabeth told him that William went out to play that day and never came back. Later, the amulet hung around William's neck was found on the servant Jast's body. And when someone saw William's death, Jast panicked. He came back from outside the village. Therefore, the judge arrested Jaster. But neither of them believes that Just will kill William, because he is a very loyal and kind servant.
When the court opened, Jaster did not have enough evidence to prove his innocence, and the judge ordered him to be executed. Just before the execution, Jast said to Elizabeth with tears in his eyes: "Madam, please believe me, I did not kill William." Elizabeth nodded sadly and said, "I understand, Just."
With William and Just buried buried, Frankens walked alone in the wilderness, recalling a series of strange things that had happened recently. Suddenly, a tall figure sprang out of the bushes and frightened Frankens. He exclaimed: "Monster!" Then he waved his cane and said, "Devil, do you dare to come here! I want to kill you!" The
monster said a little lisp: "You want to know how William died. Come? Then come with me."
Frankens followed the monster to the small wooden shed on the mountain. There was a fire in it. They sat down by the fire, and the monster began to tell about his experience over the past six months: "I Walking out of your place, I feel very sad. I am very reluctant to leave you, but you despise me and I have to go. I walked aimlessly into a forest, hungry to eat berries, thirsty to drink water, neither did I I know how many days I have stayed there. Whenever I approach the shepherds, they are always scared away by me. I am extremely lonely.
"One day, I walked through a mountain col and found there was a small shack, and a blind shack lived there. The old man and his children. The children are very filial to the father, and the father is also very kind to the children. In their leisure time, the children will accompany the elderly for walks and play musical instruments to relieve their boredom. The family is very harmonious. I decided to live next to them.
"Later, a beautiful and charming girl came. What she said was different from that of the family, but the family liked her very much. They taught her to learn the local language, and I followed it secretly. Since then, I have learned a lot of things. , I understand the customs, religious beliefs, and historical stories of different countries in the world. I also understand that there are different people among human beings: noble, despicable, rich, poor, happy, and suffering. I often think, I count What? I have no relatives and no reason. People hurriedly avoided thinking of this when they saw me. I was very painful and sometimes even thought of death. But I don't want to die so soon. I like that family and want to join them. Every day, I put some firewood in front of his house.
"One day, the opportunity came. The children of the family and the new girl went out to work. Only the blind old man was at home alone. I thought, anyway, he couldn't see me. If I could chat with him, I would win him. Joy, begging him to tell me something nice, his children might take me in. I mustered up the courage to walk into his house, chat with him, and tell him that I am a poor abandoned person without relatives. , And no friends. The old man comforted me and said that they could be my friends. I was so happy that I cried. But at this time, his children came back, and the two girls fainted as soon as they saw me, and his son picked it up. Cane, beat me desperately. With my strength, I can knock him down, but I did not fight back, just held my head and fled back to my residence.
"The next day, I found that the family moved away. My connection with the world was also broken, and I was very sad and indignant. I have no ill will, why should people despise me. At this time, I thought of you, maybe you can help me out of my predicament. So, I walked towards your hometown.
"That day, I was sleeping on a haystack, and suddenly heard someone calling for help by the river, so I ran over and rescued a little boy who had fallen into the water. At this moment, a man sprang out of my hand. I snatched the boy and ran away in horror. I was so angry that I chased him and knocked him out with a punch, then picked up the little boy, wanting to take him away, bring him up, and be my company. Who knows, He opened his eyes, took a look at me, and took a bite on my wrist, struggling to escape. Even the children hated me! I was so angry that I rushed to kill him and took him off again. 'S amulet was placed by the man's side. He hated me, so I blamed him. I felt a pleasure after revenge.
"It didn't take long before I regretted it. I shouldn't have killed the kid, but I was really angry to the point of madness. I am kind by nature, but why can't I get sympathy, help, or happiness? Mr. Frankens, I'm sorry to kill your son, but I didn't mean it.
"Finding you, I just want you to do one thing for me, make me a female companion, and then let us live in an unpopulated place. We can comfort each other, care for each other, and no longer suffer coldness and contempt. Please, professor."
Professor Frankens listened to the cry of the monster, not only was moved, but also agreed to the monster's request.
Soon, Professor Frankens returned to the laboratory in London and started experiments day and night. Sometimes he really wanted to finish the experiment in one breath without eating or drinking, but sometimes he didn't want to enter the laboratory for several days. His heart is extremely contradictory. He thought to himself that the created female monster might be even more vicious, if she didn't like the male monster and left him, wouldn't he be more lonely, more angry, and finally anger humans? If these two monsters really combine, then the race of monsters will multiply on the earth, and the survival of mankind will be seriously threatened.
Thinking of this, a sense of guilt surged into Franken's heart. He couldn't help it anymore, and just smashed the female monster that was about to be completed. At the same time, he heard the monster roar of despair and hatred coming from outside the window, which was extremely miserable.
Next, bad news came frequently, and the professor's relatives and friends were mutilated one by one. Frankens is determined to find the monster and fight him to the death, either to be killed by him or to tame him.
In this way, he followed the monster over the mountains and across the ocean, and finally came to the vast ice field that was deserted. He didn't catch up with the monster, but he was exhausted.
Frankens finished his story, took Walden's hand, slowly closed his eyes, and passed away forever.
At night, Captain Walden saw a tall figure flashing into the room where Frankens’s body was stored, and then there was a whisper from inside: “Professor, I confess to you. It’s you. You really shouldn’t have made me out. But when you force me to be like this, don’t people, including you, have no responsibility? Why can’t you believe me, tolerate me, and accept me? At first I was also full of kindness. You have passed away, and I want to take my life, I don't want to be tortured by remorse and pain anymore." After
the monster said, he jumped into the ice sea and disappeared forever.

Mary Shelley's 1818 novel "Frankenstein" by the wife of the British romantic poet Shelley in the 19th century has been shown on theatrical stage and movie screen many times. The company of inventor Thomas Edison produced the first silent film of "Frankenstein" in 1910, but it was not until the first sound "Frankenstein" directed by James Whale in 1931 that audiences and film companies truly recognized the horror film. As a classic genre film status.
Rick Jewell, a professor at the University of Southern California who studied American films in the 1930s and 1940s, said: "It is one of the iconic films with great influence. It truly ensures that horror films become more influential in Hollywood. One of the film types."
"Frankenstein" was a success, and the creative makeup artist Jack Pierce contributed a lot. According to reports, it often takes 4 hours to put on makeup for the monster played by Karlov in the movie. Pierce and his assistants worked hard to create the image of the tall and terrifying monster. They put a cotton roll on Karlov's head to make him look taller and his head is square. At the same time, Pierce installed electrodes on both sides of Karlov's neck and also applied a thick powder to his face to make him look cold and numb.
After the film was completed, some people were worried that the film would scare the audience away. Therefore, on the day of its premiere on December 6, 1931, the authorities specially arranged for an actor to remind the audience of the terrible degree of the film before the film was screened. The film was a huge success. Although the audience often screamed loudly, they were fascinated by the film.
"Frankenstein" brought millions of dollars in revenue to Universal Studios, and now the main creator of the film has long since passed away, but the man-made monster is still active on the screen. From horror films to comedies, there have been dozens of British and American films adapted from "Frankenstein".

Introduction to the film
Victor, who was rescued in the ice and snow of the Arctic, slowly regained his consciousness. He told an incredible story. As a medical student, he once mastered the technique of resurrecting the dead. When the professor was killed and no one was in charge, he made a "rebirth" without authorization. When he returned to his hometown to prepare for the wedding with his childhood sweetheart, the "reborn man" slipped out of the laboratory by himself and experienced life with his "likes and dislikes". It went to Geneva to find its creator, Victor, and asked Victor to make a female companion for him. The poor bride died in its hands. Distraught Victor used his wife’s body to create a new woman... The editor and director of this remake of the "Frankenstein" story uses modern technology on the one hand, and on the other hand tries to add a little bit to the protagonist. Shakespeare's tragic characters.
