The Killing Fields

I watched The Killing Fields last night and saw that it was nearly 12:30, and I almost overslept in the morning. "Studying" the Khmer Rouge for a whole day, I was half-dead when tired. Damn, if I had such a spirit of curiosity when I was in college, I would be able to lead graduate students now.
It may be that the psychological preparation is too adequate. There are not many bloody scenes I imagined in The Killing Fields, but the heart-wrenching horror atmosphere runs through the film. The river full of rotting human bones can be regarded as the most impressive in the history of the film. One of the horrified shots. Wu Han, who plays Prang, is of Cambodian ethnicity. He is a doctor himself. This film is his screen debut and won the Oscar for best supporting actor. In fact, Prang surpassed the American journalist Sidney in terms of the number of scenes, and it is no exaggeration to say that he is the protagonist. Pulang’s prototype died of pancreatic cancer in 2008 at the age of 65; while Wu Han himself had a much tragic experience. He died young and died of murder. The biggest name in the film is John Malkovich, who was not completely bald at the time, and the other blond British journalist is Julian Sanders, the male protagonist of The Room with a View. The weird thing is that I can see a bit of love in everything I watch now, even this kind of movie, I always feel that Prang and Sidney are affectionate and incompetent. My problem is really cured~

The Killing Fields quotes

  • Al Rockoff: Anything I eat's gotta be absolutely dead. That is why I can never eat an oyster. I read somewhere that they put that lemon juice on them just to stun them. What's the difference?

  • U.S. Consul: I will be damn glad to get out of here. This thing has dragged on too long for it to end in all sweetness and light. And after what the Khmer Rouge have been through, I don't think they're going to exactly affectionate toward Westerners.
