most terrifying and sad thing is the American who was shot by his own person. In the end, he did not die. He kept chasing his own helicopter and was finally caught by Vietnam. The scene of human killing, the tragic
story is narrated in the form of an American soldier, Christyl, writing a letter to his grandmother. In 1967, 19-year-old Christelle was still a childish college student. He gave up his studies and flew to Saigon on a C-130 transport plane together with other American soldiers who participated in the war.
After arriving in Vietnam, he was placed in an infantry platoon to perform missions in the tropical jungle adjacent to the Cambodian border. Tyler's infantry platoon has a variety of people, and the ones who have the greatest influence on Tyler are Sergeant Barnes and Sergeant Elias. The two of them are good friends who have fought side by side on the battlefield in Vietnam for many years, but their views on war are completely different. Because of dealing with death every day, Barnes' heart became extremely cold, almost a crazy killing machine. Elias did not lose his reason. He believed that even in a cruel war, he must abide by the necessary code of conduct and not kill innocent people indiscriminately. Both of them influenced Taylor with their own ideas, and Taylor hovered between the two, trying to figure out what the war was about. The film specifically shows the four battles that Kristeller participated in. Taylor's first patrol was one night when they were ambushed by the Vietnamese army. Seeing a recruit fell by his side, Taylor was dumbfounded with fright. When they entered a Vietnamese village early the next morning, they saw an American soldier hanging from a tree. The entire field platoon went crazy. After entering the village, he killed people when he saw them, and Chris also pointed his gun at a Vietnamese who was so scared that his feet were a row of bullets. Barnes ordered the flamethrower to burn down the entire village and slaughter the villagers frantically. Elias remained calm and tried his best to discourage Barnes from committing atrocity. As a result, the two fought violently, and the relationship became very tense. Barnes was even more grudged by Elias reporting the situation to his superiors.
Once, this platoon encountered a Vietnamese army ambush in the dense forest, Elias rushed into the enemy alone, Taylor and another soldier fired cover. After a fierce battle, Barnes came and ordered Taylor to carry another wounded soldier to retreat, but he sneaked into the jungle, raised his gun at Elias, and fired two shots. When Barnes walked out of the jungle, he was right. Tyler came when he came back. Taylor asked about Elias' whereabouts, Barnes hurriedly concealed it and pulled Taylor to the rescue helicopter. When the helicopter slowly lifted off through a jungle, Taylor suddenly found Elias covered in blood rushing through the jungle. Dozens of Vietnamese soldiers were chasing after him. Elias was eventually injured. Fell to the ground and died. Tyler turned his head in pain to look at Barnes, who hurriedly turned around and looked out the window. In a larger battle, the U.S. forces lost their positions. The U.S. Air Force fired and bombed the lost positions. Barnes wanted to take advantage of the chaos to kill Tyler, and at this moment, a bomb fell and both of them lost consciousness. When they woke up, Barnes ordered Tyler to go to the military doctor. Tyler pointed the gun at Barnes and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
The battle was over, and both sides suffered heavy casualties. The injured Taylor left the battle in a helicopter. At this moment, his thoughts were confused, as if he had just woke up from a nightmare.
