Life and death line dreams of life

Without subtitles, I could not understand the French part of the interview. But the whole documentary and Phillip and his team took nearly 6 years to prepare for this walk. From 1968 in the newspaper of the dental clinic, he saw the news of the start of construction at the World Trade Center in New York, to the top floor of the 104-story World Trade Center in 1974, his pursuit of dreams has not stopped for a moment.

The director James Marsh, who once directed Wisconsin Death Trip, also won an Oscar statuette in 2008 and the BAFTA Film Award in 2009 for this film.

The protagonist’s story is shocking enough, and the rhythm of the film is controlled as beautifully as a person walking on a steel wire. The soundtrack and the editing of some precious video materials are indispensable.

Man on Wire quotes

  • Philippe Petit: If I die, what a beautiful death!

  • Philippe Petit: Life should be lived on the edge of life. You have to exercise rebellion: to refuse to tape yourself to rules, to refuse your own success, to refuse to repeat yourself, to see every day, every year, every idea as a true challenge - and then you are going to live your life on a tightrope.
