In the first episode, when "national anthem" appears, in which criticism of human nature, is simply admire the five-body cast. The next two episodes of "The Value of Fifteen Million" and "Your All History" are also remarkable, especially "The Value of Fifteen Million", which is even more critical for the current form of entertainment to death. , It's staggering. After reading it, I just felt scared.
In the three episodes of "I'm Back", "White Bear", and "Waldo Moment" in the second season, on average, the shock is less than the shock of the first season. On the one hand, there are psychological expectations, and on the other hand, the main line of "Black Mirror" gradually began to deviate. Between the two seasons, or the overall theme of "Black Mirror" is the impact of "technology" on human life. But the two seasons are still different. The first quarter is more inclined to the development of human nature after technological development; the second quarter is inclined to the influence of technological development on human nature. It seems that the difference is not big, it seems to be playing word games, but when you look closely, the difference is clear.
Human nature always has both negative and positive sides, and there will be similar and different manifestations in different times. And "Black Mirror" shows the performance of human nature in different eras. The purpose of this, of course, is to warn that mankind should not be arrogant, should not be arrogant, and should always have a respect and humility towards the world. Don't try to use technology to solve so-called social problems. Such as political indifference, the degeneration of entertainment, and the suspicion between husband and wife.
In the second season, the description of technology has increased, and it has become more inclined that technology has caused new human problems and new social problems. This is especially evident in the first episode of "Coming Back". A very good technology, the screenwriter only shows the possible negative damage to human nature, and its positive help to mankind is hidden. Of course, the last episode of this episode, "Waldo Moment", performed much better, echoing the first episode of the first season "National Anthem", once again showing the ridiculous side of political hypocrisy.
It is difficult to distinguish between the two, but personally, I prefer the first one. Because when technology creates problems that do not currently exist, it is entirely possible for future humans to use their talents to solve new problems. However, in TV dramas, they often only highlight the frightening side, and there is no indication of how humans solve problems. In my opinion, this point is actually too derogatory of human wisdom, and it is not very reliable.
Of course, because there are only six episodes in total, the forced classification is inevitably a bit far-fetched, which I also admit. But the two clues and two tendencies in it really exist. The possible problem is that according to different production time, different seasons are roughly classified. This is indeed not advisable. However, the overall performance of the two seasons must be recognized.
Two
and then for the newly published "Black Mirror: Christmas specials", this episode in my opinion, is simply the lowest level in a set. The fundamental reason is that the troubles caused by the technology described in the article can be avoided to a large extent. Or, in my opinion, the crisis brought about by technology that the TV series hopes to express can be easily solved. As mentioned above, this approach will degrade the capabilities of human beings. In this TV series, this is taken to the extreme. The development of science and technology brings people only various negative problems, and the well-being among them is fundamentally avoided. Of course, using "length" can evade this problem, but its one-sidedness is an unavoidable accusation.
Specific to this episode. Among the core technologies are three "eye", "block" and "copy". For the negative impact that each technology can have, because of the space, the screenwriter uses the content of one episode to connect these three technologies together. The first technique used is "PUA", which is undoubtedly a tragedy according to the usual settings. The second technical story uses two characters to show it, which accounts for nearly half of the length. Let us see the harm that "block" may bring to people in the future world. And "copy" is one of my favorite designs, which I will talk about later.
Why is there a problem with this show, especially in "eye" and "block". In "eye", because this technology has caused tragedy, we will subconsciously classify it as a black technology. It is believed that its use will bring people a tragedy in life. But this is very one-sided. In real life, the so-called "PUA" already exists, and many people also learn "pickup" skills in various ways. In the play, it is nothing more than to extend this method to an extreme that is more immediate and more convenient. Why not do this? Of course, privacy issues are involved, but isn't this method the result of illegal use? The following text has obviously criticized this method of use, but it may lose its corrective meaning just because it is just a stroke. It is this asymmetry of pros and cons that makes me extremely uncomfortable with screenwriters. Profound science fiction works, especially to show the impact of a certain technology on human life, must show all possible situations, all human reactions and responses. Merely showing the negative effects of technology, it is too low-level and stupid for human beings, and it loses the power of sci-fi works to imagine the future world.
The same applies to "block". The story is presented from the perspective of being blocked. Because it is passive, there will naturally be various dissatisfaction and opposition. However, if we change the perspective to the active block side, from his perspective, consider his ex-husband. , The quality of life has been greatly improved, so is this technology still negative? Any technology has two sides, the key lies in how users deal with it. In other words, technology itself is neutral, and the most fundamental thing depends on human beings. When we enshrine technology itself on the altar and worship it, we regard it as the master that determines the destiny of mankind. At that moment, human beings become slaves of science and technology, and any behavior is only stressful and automatic, and human beings lose control of technological capabilities. If you really get to such a field, there is no need to show human life through any literary works, because it is triggered by technology, and human beings are nothing more than clockwork.
Such opinions will obviously cause controversy, and some people will claim that "sci-fi works shouldn't show the negative effects of science and technology?" Of course it should, but as in the classification above. It should be based on "human nature" to discuss the issues of human nature at different stages of technological development, instead of focusing on technology and simply discussing the changes that technology has brought to human nature.
Three
final say third technology "copy". This is the best aspect of design in my opinion. First of all, this technology is an unprecedented (as far as I know) design. In the previous discussion about the relationship between "consciousness" and "material", there is only one kind of consciousness, and his subjectivity will never shift. But in this play, two subjects with the same consciousness appear again, so who is the deity? How to distinguish between the two? How can the existing legal framework be treated differently? The design is awesome, but the story surrounding it is not satisfying. One is to regard copy as a vassal of the deity and become a part of the so-called smart home; in the latter story, in my opinion, it has touched on a deeper problem, how to distinguish copy from ontology. This copy always has a sense of self-identity of the subject, always thinking that one is the subject. Even memory is largely consistent with the so-called "subject". The treatment in the play is that whoever has the body is the recognized "subject". The discussion on this issue just stopped there, and there was no deeper discussion at all. The autonomy of the copy may have been completely ignored. Imagine what happens if this kind of copy is implanted in an environment that can be directly expressed in the real world? In the first story, if she can use other tools to express herself and show her intentions, instead of just serving the so-called "deity" like a slave, how should she judge herself? This point could have been discussed more deeply, but unfortunately, the creator just showed a few superficial phenomena and just tasted it. This is very regrettable. Rather than using such a long space to discuss the impact of the three technologies on human life, it is better to use all the space to discuss in an all-round way how to distinguish between human subjects.
This phenomenon of bad craftsmanship spoiling good ingredients is really heartbreaking. But the advantage is that it leaves room for other people's creations. You can think more deeply about it and create better works.
Fourth
, the third season of "Black Mirror" will be launched next year. According to the current creative thinking, I am afraid it is still to design a small technological change, and then discuss its negative impact on human life. People continue to fear and worry about technology, while the main creator shows an attitude that everyone is drunk and alone, pointing to this upcoming life, showing a sense of superiority like a prophet. But in fact, this one-sided presentation is neither profound nor rigorous. It is more of a nostalgia and nostalgia for the existing life or even the past life, instead of welcoming and depicting the full aspects of technology to life. Impact. If it really makes me unfortunately, "Black Mirror", which sells pessimistic creations, will become its fast lane towards the end.
