Slower and stronger

I watched the ice storm on New Year's Eve. After reading it, I took out the biography of Ang Lee, reopened the dozen pages of narration in Ice Storm, and read it again carefully.
I was reading something before. It said: I found the strength in my heart, so that I can witness the misfortune and be indifferent, restrain my emotions, at that time I have begun to understand how beautiful the sight of destruction and misfortune is.
There is actually not much connection between these. Perhaps I just want to say that powerful sadness and compassion can be exchanged for beauty and strength, and inspire people to move upward toward goodness.
How Ben needed to cry at the end of the film. When he was crying, the viewer's heart also fell. As a director, Li Anzhi can slowly understand and observe the small human nature. This is where I respect him the most.

    [hears door being shut]

Wendy Hood: Shit, it's my parents.

[turns off light and hides under the bed still on the phone]

    Wendy Hood: He's so gross.

  • Wendy Hood: Dad, stop it!

Ben Hood: Get to sleep, young lady. I mean it.

Wendy Hood: [opens bedroom door] Fascist.

Ben Hood: If I were a fascist, I would have sent you to one of those southern military academies a long time ago. Now, get to bed.
